Jetstar advertising for drivers in the Middle East

Todays Gulf News had an ad in the Appointments section.

Jetstar are recruiting pilots for their longhaul operations.

Suitably qualified Captains and First Officers are requested to apply.

Should be interesting to see how many leave Noteatingham to go home.

Beautiful to watch is it not. I really, really hope they don't get many applications I am enjoying watching them sweat, just a shame it wasn't after a note vote.

Don't be surprised to see J* Longhaul become heavily populated by a heap of EK " fair skinned " Africans, who have all recently gone thru the pains of getting Aussie citizenship, Aussie ATPLs and Aussie property in preparation for exactly such an opportunity as this.

The problem with advertising for jobs - and subsequently not being able to fill the positions - is that J* can now make a case to the g'ment to allow the issue of work visas for foreign nationals.

I can only hope that market forces will even out and J* will be losing too many qualified operators not to increase the T&C.

I cant imagine many EK drivers being keen on this (they earn similar numbers to me after tax), Ive done the maths from the UK and its a non-starter.
I can still keep my property in NZ..pay a mortgage in the UK..travel backwards to NZ and Oz 6 times a year..and even belong to a pretty good golf club.
The JetStar salary on the other hand would mean selling the property in NZ to get a decent place in OZ...and 4 sector days!..or bloody longhaul!

You forgot something. '... 4 sector days ...' with 25 minute turnarounds!
