And accept others may not share your view and post a counter perspective, again in a reasoned and rational manner.
It is the irrational, pointless and often vexatious posts and posts slagging other users personally because they hold a different view to you, which will cease.
Sunshine Woomera

Does this include the Dick Bashers too??

it is the rational, reasoned manner in which is said that is critical.
unless you describe the MO of another organisation that defines anything critical of their activities or their received wisdom as ANTI them and therefore ANTI GA.

UN-Australian

When did sledging stop being used in the day-to-day Aussie vernacular?

When did stirring stop being our national sport?

Strange. Every colleague that has mentioned my banning is astounded that I was banned for 5 days, let alone at all! Other posters in that thread also came to my defence! NOBODY I have spoken to found it offensive and EVERY person has stated that it was obvious what the point of my post was. I have NOT indulged in any name calling in any of my posts. Nor have I ever verbally abused any members.

I do see however, that another user made a CLEAR racial slur in response to my post. He, however, was not banned!

I am offended that you consider me “thuggish”. It was a CLEAR analogy, as stated by every person I have spoken in relation to my banning.

Enough now. I shall shut up until such time that us mere QF engineers have something worthy to discuss.

Shouldn't the plural of Woomera be Woomerae. Unless Woomera is already the plural version of Woomerum. Cogito ergo sum.....

I would have thought that the aim of running a website in the first place was to provide a place that members enjoy visiting, a site that suits their character. D&G was a place where aussies could have a dig at some twit who deserved it or drop the odd inflamatory rumour and watch the results with joy. Lets face it, a website called "Pilots Rumour Network" is hardly going to be taken as a serious forum for "grown ups" , as you call them, to exchange fair minded and impartial ideas in a concise and legally accountable manner. If that's what you want to turn this into then I wish you luck. Maybe change the name to " Professional Pilots Very Serious Aviation Issues Network"

Wouldn't a better idea be to allow the "victims" of any attacks that may be hurtful or legally harmful to one's business to contact the moderators and request that the thread be edited or closed??? If not, let it run it's course.
My feeling is that if you make the D&G forum serious and boring then you will just end up killing it off to all but those who thrive in that sad little world.

If I want a staig and conservative aviation education I'll go and sit in the corner and read Jane's Aviation weekly.

Anyway sunshine woomera or smurf woomera or fluffy woomera whatever you are calling yourself............. you know best of course.

victor two . . . . . precisely my sentiments. If the 'Thought Police' are going to 'moderate' the healthy open slather aspects of this joint and put a kind of PC dampener on the supposed 'free exchange' of opinion. . . . I'll tell you what. . . . the 'gun' shearers will be off to another shed. . . and as likely getting in another cook. (One who won't lace the compote with so many effing prunes.)

I agree with the thread starter; in fact that's why I'm back after a few months off trekking through India.

In fact, I'll go a little further. Prune should initiate an IQ test (only those over 140 admitted), and a spelling test, and a grammar test, etc.

Hang on, I may be the only one here. Never mind, no dissenting opinions and therefore slagging.

I agree that the collective Wommerae have a difficult task, but made infinitely more difficult by those who enter here.

I dont believe there is any need to define the nature of posts as the current controls work well.

Allow people to post what they will subject to the moderators editing or deleting statements which are obviously highly defamatory or just plain bastardry or shutting down threads if considered necessary.

I was trawling through the Rumour and News forum as a bit light relief from what this threat is about. And I found a couple of posts that I thought "That's not very nice!" and yes, sure enough, you guessed it:- They were posted by Aussies. Or at least that is what the home address said.

Just go and have a look and see if you can spot the Aussie without looking at the address first. Also have a look and see if any other nationality is consistantly slagging off people for no reason.

Woomera is actually an Aboriginal word - it is a stick with a peg in one end that fitted the butt of a spear and acted as a kind of spear-thrower. As it is not Latin, then Woomeri, Woomerii, Woomerae and Woomera are all inaccurate as plurals. My knowledge of Aboriginal does not extend far enough to know how to pluralise, but whenever I have seen it written down, it has always been as Woomeras.

Personally....getting a week "on the beach "from woo wasnt that bad...I would rather have got "6 of the best",as that was something I recieved on a regular basis., as a young lad......but sitting in the corner for a week with that "cone" thing on my head was cruel and unjust punishment.........therefore I propose the Woomera get the same treatment,...just so that he knows what its like, and he can add his name to this elite group of individuals....all those in favour say ...."I"
