..sometimes had to put down in Esperance for a technical stop if those strong, high-altitude westerlies were blowing
B727 into and out of a 1500 metre strip?!?!? If true then that would have been exciting!

I think it was a little further North, Kalgoorlie, it was a loooong time ago so the memory is a bit cranky.

Methinks YFRT in the desert. Come to think of it, maybe Ozjet could have a Terminal there, for a very small fee!

Yes Gaunty, in the "real days" of aviation they had a complete FSU there. I have been there, there was even a 30 seat picture theatre there. This was when aviation was real. not driven to the lowest penut.
