Merged: Jetstar International News
Always love how Dixon goes on about QF being to high cost yet he always cherry picks the High cost amenitities such as the lounges and the use of the QF training centre for Australian Airlines etc.
However I think QF needed to do something as Sir Richard is talking up a International Version of VB.

is someone able to give me a ballpark figure for the amount of pilots needed to crew 10-12 international a/c? Ie if you looked at Jetstar International completely seperate from domestic.

An informer told me that;
Flight ops domestic and international will be one and the same, there will be no separate pilot group, Current Jetstar pilots will be operating international , all new hires to join as FO's.

Couldn't help but laugh when reading a newspaper report of the expansion that there would be an immediate hiring of 50 new managers among the 200 new staff that would needed at H.O. It's getting more like the big Q all the time. Jetstar Engineering in Sydney couldn't even get another van to assist in working at SIT with the start up of NZ ops because there was no money allocated for extras in the start up!

Yes of course you can CCQ 320 to 330.
As to Mixed Fleet Flying ,well thats another issue, and i imagine being left to the "backwardness" of australian aviation the regulatory requirements imposed by the governing authorities would be laughable on a global scale.

Mixed fleeting depends on local CAA, in Austrian Airlines you can fly everything from an A318 to A340, just have to check gross Weight in ecam on landing to remind you which aircraft your in.
CAA can be pursuaded to change, depending on amount of muscle Airline can apply.
