It gets better, friend has advised that Qantas at Avalon has decided to go the Time & Motion path (suppose that means Forstaff as well) disguised under some silly other name Lean Sigma seems that new work ethic is about to evolve down that way?

It would look like that area is the test case zone for Qantas as no union trouble can be instigated as they do not seem to have any effective representation at all?

Hell maybe heaps of jobs if this sorts em all out!!!!

inthefluffystuff........

Would the name be LEAN SIGMA......OR FAT PAJERO

Sydney has been using it or years. Its a Boeing time and motion process as you describe. It can be a good tool to get stands , tools or recalcitrant departments to change whom waste your time.....

Perhaps management just want you mexicans to come up to speed. I think the term is called ummmmm ...EFFICIENT

Yeah thats the one, from what I have been told you are right it needs a bit of a shake up for sure, friend say's (he probably needs it too, hell hope he does not get to hear of this) the place could do with people working a bit better quicker or smarter but does it go over the top and expect heaps or is it a good tool to get things working efficiently without extracting too much blood?

Thanks for the info Bolty Mc Bolt sure sounds like it is not too new then, oh well they must have had it too good then!!!!!

Friend informs me that Avalon's percentage is way above Sydney,Melbourne and Queensland on doing things on time and on budget, the figures look good but hey he may be pulling my strings (have to get him computer savvy and he can do his own glory figures.) guess they need more output.

I hate to sound like I a management stooge..

Lean Siga or Fat Pajero is about taking the guys who do the job and know the problems,Then giving them the power to fix them.
The boses love it.

But put in the hands of Melb....who knows

As for AVV being on time..This may be true but as for quality maintenance other than recofigs I am not sure.
I have personally seen a fixed body landing gear door changed in SYD after ferry flight from AVV D check due to door being full of corrosion and broken internal ribs and this we found on a transit walk around. Who knows what else gets missed hidden under panels for the sake of making time sched...

The supervisors are not intrested in that at AVV they know everything even when they don,t.

not all lames are a pain in the rear most are quite good but the few know alls are a pain they should wake up that they are not expert in every trade.
then again there are some people who were forstaff and are now qantas and some still forstaff in the office who are so far out of there depth it is not funny but they are covered from above and are the untouchables

Makes good sense. If Qantas is cutting jobs in Sydney, then so too at Avalon. I would hate to see Qantas employees (doing core maintenance) lose their jobs over contractors at an overflow facility.

hangar 4 AVV

looks like hangar 4 to close for 1 month to reconfig docking for 767 shifts to be spread over other hangars then restart with maybe a shift change.
all those who changed to 4 for a better shift to be screwed again.
