Exclamation Emergency Landing @ Kununurra

Emergency landing, no one hurt
From: AAP
September 09, 2005

A PILOT and three passengers have escaped injury after a light aircraft made an emergency landing on a gravel road south of Kununurra airport in the north of Western Australia.

The Cessna plane was coming into land this afternoon when it lost power, police said.
The pilot realised he was not going to make the landing strip and then aimed for a road near the airport.

The airport is just outside the town, situated 3200km north west of Perth.

The passengers and the pilot walked away unharmed

was this one of the local operators in Kununurra?

I had heard thru the grapevine one of the floatplanes had a close call last year and had a forced landing on argyle.

thats newbies for you eh?

what does that mean 112.3????

Just cause most of the pilots in YPKA are low timers doesnt exempt them from failures or emergencies. Could happen to anyone, anytime, low time or high time.

Your comment is a pathetic one. Waste your time some place else.

F@rk, Hope he had his floats well secured to the a/c, or his paperwork in order for his Visas (as well as no contraban in his luggage) otherwise it will be a while before he sees the sun ruse Dununda again!!

Congratulations to the pilot of the C207 involved in yesterdays incident (6.23nm from KU).

You can now speak with authority on the factors involved in a forced landing.

There are not too many that have done it for real!

Just wondering what the roadside sign indicated that came off second best in the landing roll?

From my end it was a pleasure to relay your well being to Centre.

Only if you are looking at a map in the mirror, Darwin is NORTH EAST - Not North West............ At least it was last time I checked!!

Cheers

If you spend long enough in GA, having an engine failure or partial engine failure is bound to happen at some point. I had a failure just after rotation in a loaded 207 out of Kalumburu... so many well tanned faces turned white... Was christmas eve and my folks would have had a pretty aweful chrissy had I got it wrong.

They arent the easiest planes to fly or land nor are the hot humid conditions in the top end the nicest to fly in. Well done in getting it down in one piece.
