NP's new oil platform.
Apparently work started today on New Plymouth airports new oil platform just 300m off the side of the main 23/05 rwy and even less off the grass 14/32.
am i the only one who finds this to be a little silly, its meant to increase minimas by just 100ft but its almost 200ft high without the flame and pretty much directly inline with the 05/23 ndb approaches.
The danger is probably quite minimal, but still i find it a bit crazy, but i guess money talks. the oil that their actually drilling for is offshore but a rig is more expensive to the poor old oil company...
