Question Jetstar NZ

While discussing Jet-Star NZ with another in the crew room, the subject of leaks on the net came up. The Jet* NZ website, www.jetstar.co.nz works but currently links to OZ site. funny thing is though when you go to 'Flight Info' then 'Route Maps' for a brief instant trans tas routes show in blue!

Whats more strange is that there are blue lines domestically in OZ too. When/if I can I'm going to get a screenshot.

Poss something as to how Jet Connects fit in the QF/JS mix.

Qantas\'s budget offshoot, Jetstar, plans to launch flights to New Zealand by mid-November and has given its strongest signal yet it may one day fly into Asia to link up with its Singapore-based half-sister, Jetstar Asia.

Jetstar\'s chief executive, Alan Joyce, told a National Aviation Press Club lunch in Sydney yesterday his airline would release details of its trans-Tasman routes and air fares in early August, three months before its first services to New Zealand.

Mr Joyce denied that Jetstar - which celebrates the first anniversary of its domestic service today - had decided to enter the trans-Tasman route to counter slowing domestic aviation growth.

"What we have is a lot of other growth opportunities in domestic Australia anyway," he said, "because we\'re not in Western Australia or the Northern Territory."

Jetstar is awaiting delivery of 15 Airbus A320s in the next year.

Mr Joyce declined to say where Jetstar would fly to in New Zealand.

But he did hint that Jetstar could avoid key trunk routes such as Sydney to Auckland, saying the airline would concentrate on "deemed leisure routes" and complement "Qantas\'s significant operational presence" in trans-Tasman travel.

Advertisement"There are significant government and commercial travel accounts which Qantas will continue to service on major trans-Tasman routes," he said.

When asked if Jetstar\'s decision to enter the market was more to do with stemming Qantas\'s Tasman-related losses, Mr Joyce said: "I wouldn\'t go into anything if I was going lose my shirt on it. But at the same time we want to make sure that the Qantas group is better off in doing it."

Further down the runway, there were a "lot of potential synergies at some stage in the future of linking up" with Jetstar Asia, Mr Joyce said.

But Jetstar would fly only within a five-hour range of Australian ports, he said.

Qantas said it had "no immediate plans" to cede some of its unprofitable trans-Tasman routes to Jetstar. "We will continue to operate two class services on trans-Tasman routes," a spokeswoman for the airline said.

Looks like Norfolk Island to me! The lines are blue anyway signifing QF Link, Jetstar are shown in orange!

On further look the lines aren't that loooong to reach us!
