Cool

The problem lies with Air Pac management. Why are so many locals leaving ? Management. Simple as that.

HEY ROCKY

All but one expat in AP was on a legit work permit.AP and rishworth used a loophole in the immigration law to get around the work permit issue.......and hence the negativity towards expats.IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH RACISM.....

AP conveniently used EXPATS to try and break the local pilots union......INDIAN,FIJIAN AND OTHERS alike.

You just got screwd over in the process!!!

Hey ff,

There is no need to keep justifing my posts. It is not only some Air Pac Pilots, but some Pilots from other Airlines as well!! Well, most Pilots from other airlines!! And its not only the Pilots, but I wont go there. Ive run out of my time limit for this subject!! Am getting tired of it! I've proved my point, take it or leave it. Im not gonna sit here and debate about it. It was merely a wake up call thats all!!! Your saying tis ok for you guys to go overseas, and screw over the pilots there right?? Are they not too trying to improve their wages and conditions?? Why, do you leave the best paying job in Fiji to go overseas?? Surely its not just the management?? Maybe for more money for you and to better your position right??? Abit hypocritical if you ask me!!!

By the way, I dont work for Air Pac and never have. So I never had the pleasure of being screwed as you so kindly put it!!

Yes, FF I agree, management using expats to try and break the union, which had no balls anyways.

Hey Rock.

I've been dealing with Airpac guys for a lot of years, admitedly as a dispatcher and not as an employee, but one thing I have always found with them is that it has always been a pleasure doing business with them. I'd like to think I can count a few of them as friends too.

Hands of me mates Rock, they're all right by me.

i have had the good fortune to fly with an Ex Air Pac guy, who is still in the Far East and you could not hope to fly with a nicer gentleman, he is a local to Fiji. Has been treated appaulingly by this current airline, but still holds his head high, as he should!
Don't paint everyone with the same brush guys. It works both ways...?

I agree that the Fijian pilots union is toothless. This is evident by years of being bullied around by AP management. Who loses out? The local pilots, leaving in masses and having to expatriate themselves, and AP having to hire in costlier expats.
I wish all airlines of the world would just look after their pilots!! May solve a lot of problems downline.

Question

Any rumour in the truth that a percentage of the expatriates working with AP have medical problems that have forced them over to that cor(o)ner of the world?
Rumour has it, that after leaving Cambodia, one little tub of lard had a transitory job in Meazaku, Japan before failing the blood pressure/cholestrol test. Next stop, Air Pathetic, where he remained.

Mate - You obviously have not been subjected to a feejee medical ... I believe it is based on UK medical requirements - and as is the UK way, it is stringent as hell ... I believe the one medical examination report goes through couple of doctors and a medical panel of some sort before the medical certificate is issued .....

I beg to differ Toolong. The medical I did out here in the middle east was much more thorough than any I did in Fiji.

Also, I think it depends on which Dr. you go to in Fiji. Some are a bit more stringent than others.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few rejects(not just medically challenged ones either) finding their way into AP. They are scraping the bottom of the barrel now. There are still good expat pilots in AP but many have left, to be replaced by,well.....you know....con men, bull **** artists etc. What do you expect with the kind of money AP offers?

Pity. Once upon a time it was a lovely airline to work for; for both expat and local alike
