A321s for Jetstar

Word around the place is that J* are now looking at firming up some of their options on more A320s and converting some of the orders across to include up to 10 A321s. I understand that they now operate 22 a/c so crewing numbers should be pretty close, yet apparantly they have started recruiting again which would indicate more a/c. This has come third hand but sounds like it could have merit based on the expansion announced for the future ie NZ & SE ASIA as well as a new base opening in Cairns. Happy Birthday J*.

Was taxing out behind VQZ at Sy several days ago.

Duty rwys 16L & R. Atis giving 6-8 tailwind on both.

PWI at 16R showing 6-8 TW

When we arrived at the threshold 16L, the wind sock there was showing 6-8 kts tw.

VQZ to Syd Twr "Err whats the wind on 16L"

Twr - "6-8 tail"

VQZ - "Can we hold here and sort out the tailwind ?" (presume they meant redo their performance figures)

Twr - "No, I have traffic behind "

So VQZ then entered 16R and took the first high speed to the right (presumably to go and do their performance figures).

A few friendly tips boys:

* If the ATIS says that their is a tailwind and so does the PWI, its a fair bet there is one.

* Do your performance figures at the gate before taxing. Have a look at a couple of contingencies. Consider more than one option.

* Dont offer to undercut mainline flying to Ian Oldmeadow anymore.

kind regards

Thanks for the tips Gigi.

Whilst you're at it, you could offer some 'friendly' tips to the crew of VXF, OJH, TJB, and bar etiquette on away slips in Asia.

2crows, yes that rumour is doing the rounds. We wait and see I guess.

Kind regards also!

Well he did say he's a mutant...... he's helping the thread to mutate!

So tell us A-8, what have the Qwantas wallies been up to lately?

More bar brawls?

Hitting each other with handbags in public?

Well thanks Gigi for the great airmanship pionts, I'll note those down & try never to get caught out by anything unexpected, especially with a full load. A8 thanks but there seems to be a bit of momentum behind this at the moment as loads are good and new routes coming on line, how can they possible expect to cover this with their current fleet. I've also spoken to an insider & they seemed pretty confident the A321s are coming as well as an increase in fleet numbers. Rumour is that recruitment has started again which would coinside with an increase in fleet numbers. Then again I've been wrong before.

So, what does it cost to endorse yourself on a 737 and then an A320?......And add the interest?......Just to work for substandard wages and conditions and lower them for everyone else aswell .

Performance figures at the gate, gigi? Very unrealistic.

Why?

Well, they've only got a 25 minute turn round and they have to clean the cabin during that time!

Yes and maybe check to see if they have enough gas to make it to their destination .But very commendable job those guys did turning back to NZ.

or

Maybe they were a bit tired on such an early morning....say like a recent CBR incident...

Both much less serious than a 5 minute delay

So shall we start a war ????

Im ready if you are...

From what I hear, turning a 321 in 25mins is a lot harder than the smaller ones.

Hey schnauzer

Broom, ******** Is that really the best you can do ?

,
Thanks to and your girlfriend Gigi who began these antagonizing and insulting posts which has NOTHING to do with the intrduction of the A321s I thought it might be a good idea to elaborate futher on some mainline "not so normal" operations . Sort of not unlike what Gigi .

So here goes with one to wet our appetite

For those of you who didnt know a QANTAS 737 departed NZ approx 1 year ago with insufficent fuel on board to legally complete the flight and had to return to the departure aerodrome because the crew FAILED to order enough fuel and FAILED to check they had sufficent fuel on board. Only the onboard computer (FMC) alerted them to this fact. Any passengers on that flight or any other interested parties who want more info I would happy to give you more specific details

Too much work for me to do alone so please anyone feel free to add. Hey if its ok for the big Q boys to have a go!!!

Got get back to thiose damm tray tables.

See you later DOPEY!!!!

If you had half a clue qwert you would rebut gigi by suggesting that 5kts is the max tailwind ATC can use for assigning a runway due noise/flow.

There is no way there would have been an ATIS showing 6-8kts tailwind for the duty runway, methinks it was a 5kt tailwind and ATC informed the crew it was now above 5 so they recalculated their takeoff figures.

Gigi would have you believe that he can tell the difference between a 5kt and a 6-8kt tailwind component from a windsock when in actual fact he wouldnt have a sniff about the difference.

Maybe I'm getting older...or maybe I'm just tired.

I wonder sometimes about the calibre of people in this industry. A simple rumour (it is pprune) about an A321 and it turns into a pilot slanging match - schoolboy antics really.

Safety is one of those things that sneaks up and bites you on the backside - I don't think that we should be smug!

Back to the rumour - I think the A321 is a little large for the value based model. We wait and see I guess. Alan Joyce I believe spoke to the media today - any news from that?

HAHAHAAAAA.....!! Nice one!

If you had half a clue qwert you would rebut Gigi('s argument) by asking why it takes them so long to do their calcs. Maybe someone doesn't know much about jets and hasn't seen Performance charts before. Or was that VB's Cheiftain legends I'm thinking of??? I can never remember.....

Gotta known tailwind??? Why not figure for the worst possible likely case? Saves embarrassing moments at the holding point. Still... at least they didn't give in to the temptation to explore test pilot realms by just removing the flex and bending the levers (which don't actually move anyway......)

(edited to add: HAHAHAHAHAAAA........!!!)

I always thought safety was a good thing. Thanks for the tip......

Back to the rumour
Schoolboy antics = bad.
Rumour-mongering = good.

"JS Heros" = "Military Intelligence". A wild contradiction in terms.

They are your basic sc@bs who are willing to drag the whole industry down to help themselves.

Go back to cleaning the sh1tters qwert. You dont impress me.

Of course VB Pilots insisted on the same pay and conditions as Qantas and Ansett right from the start, didn't they????
Maybe you should trace the rot back to its source Schnauzer!
