Clearly then you have no desire to remain "informed" but choose rather to wollow in an environment of self pity and speculation.

Perhaps the only thing that will convince you is the disappearance of heavy maintenance from the airline scene and maybe then YOU can have the piric pleasure of sitting back and saying I told you so while the employees do battle with the reintroduced Transmission of Business clause that took so much work to have removed.

We don't have that luxury its about trying to protect jobs (especially those in marginal areas of the operation) above all else and O/T banking and no transmission of business does that for the time being at least.

No one has a crystal ball to forsee the future but surely a future without a Tansmission of Business clause is better than one that has it included.

Certainly Heavy Maintenance is balanced on a knife edge and which way it falls will only been seen in time but what is certain is that if it is to survive at all it must be able to sell its product intenationally and with its current cost base it cannot do that. If it can't then it and its workers may need the safety of the absence of a transmission of busines provision.

Many LAME's have more than 15 years service so you do the maths and figure out how much money they are gambling with.

Let us hope they never get to find out the hard way.

O/T banking doesn't work in Line because of the crew structuring and the smaller amounts of manpower available on any particular day but in heavy all the people are there all the time irrespective of if an aircraft is in the docking.

Even so it's VOLUNTARY (i.e. no complusion to join)

Much of the difficulty surrounding the airline and its employees is that for the most part they are long serving individuals who have only worked for one employer maybe two (probably both airlines) in their working life. This has led to a workforce that is well insulated from the real world and what it takes in society to earning what most LAME's earn.

Yes were "earn" it but can we achieve it outside.

Maybe you should give it a try sometime and check the job ads.

I don't see too many jumping ship to better paid private sector or non airline jobs do you?

So wallow if you will in your desires and your infalted opinions of what you believe you are "worth" the pilots thought that they were irreplaceable too and they had a labor government in power.

How many of them are back in the industry locally?

Perhaps what we need is a face to face education in the ramifications of the Workplace Relations Act to bring some reality back into the workplace I only hope that everyone is still here to see the new world order.

We shall see.

Anyone who knows T1 will concur that he has been carrying on like a horses @ss for as long as he's been in the joint. It almost reads as if they want to come and sell the rubbish to us. We wait and see.

O/T BANKING

If qantas gets this you better hope there are better at counting than Forstaff because the figures are never right and you have to watch constantly for errors.
which take forever to correct.

You fools just don't get it. SF is expressing the opinion of most the lames that he representing and a fair balanced veiw of the situation. If we dont vote yes we can kiss goodbye HM Sydney.

Overtime banking wont be a problem for hours calculaton its gunna be handled by people conect who are available 24 hours if you got a problem with the hours. Forestaff dont have them so it should be ok.

What a total misnomer that is.....

You might get to talk to someone, but they sure can't ever help you, they always need to pass it on to someone else...

Three weeks later still nothing.

Let me get this straight, some one is suggesting that the contents of an EBA are going to decide the future of Heavy Maintenance in Sydney?

You guys are dreaming! You are going to get outsourced come what may! Its as plain as daylight! Your Sydney Heavy Maintenance base is sitting on some of the most expensive real estate in the country! There is NO WAY it is going to remain there!

Of course once you make the above assumption, settling for 3% doesn't look very smart does it?

SF is moron as are you MR Qantas ,he may well be overpaid in cabin interrior, but i am not in HM climbing in fueltanks, working on hyd sys, pneumatic sys, fuel sys, engs, airframes, water and waste sys, etc, etc.
Compare this to someone who maintains pax seats and toilets it's not really the same type of engineering is it,yet this twit is paid more than most people in HM,what a waste of company funds.
I can see a saving there can you(replace lame's in cabin interrior with ame who hold approvals),where do you think this may stop.

If trustee 1 thinks that a voluntary O/T bank is the saviour of H/M Sydney then its time to put him in a straight jacket and put in the wagon. If the state of heavy is so dire then a compulsary O/T bank would have been pushed wouldn't it. They wont sell us at the moment as we are too inefficient apparently however our recent presentation from management congratulted us for a great effort in A/C production,
and quality through both FAA and QRSM audits.
Is heavy on a knife edge someone asked? Not in Sydney came the reply. An O/t bank would help but wouldn't make all that much difference.
Also consider that H/M is also made up of AMEs , Sheeties, fitting shop, fabric, utilities, gse etc and none of these sections have an O/T bank. The LAMES are a minority

O/T banking is not a big issue for most but it is a great win for QF - after all no other unions have weakened to this demand at either H/M Melb or Syd, 3% gives QF the right to demand nothing.
I think QF management would be wrapped though to see how willing ALAEA exec are to participate once again in their favorite ploy of sacrificing the minority while encouraging I'm right jack attitude in the majority.
Another reason I'd be happy if I was Cox Vincent or Clark is that if I was setting up to outsource heavy & line maint to a third party labour hire company( very doable ) then I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of blokes to thrash out the issues with than the ALAEA EBA neg committee
I'm sure they hope that this EBA is finished quickly so these issues along with LAME-less tarmac can be sorted before the ALAEA boys get the boot. How well will the QF look after them when they have no one to sell out ?
There are long term ramifications for all LAMEs in this EBA ie some line guys forced to the hangers with the heavy guys & only o/t bankers offered the extra hours / don't worry though this won't happen to our current EBA neg group.
We might not end up with much of a pay deal but we must stand together & earn some respect as a group regardless of how keen our office bearers are to ingratiate themselves to management.
We should all remember the one golden QF rule no matter what your grade level or dept a good employee /LAME is a cheap one.

Pease use lower case it makes it much easier to read. Upper Case in internet terms is considered to be shouting, There are other more polite ways of emphasising you point. W

Is it true that T1 wants to become the new Mr Potatoe head?
Is the Executive really a traininng ground for furture QF managers?

Turbo 5B,
The ALAEA forum will never return. Why? Because of uneducated, childish, imature, tantrum throughing pratts.

In the 40 odd years that I worked for this company their was only a few executive members that jumped the fence. Not a good track record the way I see it.

CM, are you suggesting what Bruce, Wally and others have done to be the standard.

What position are you seeking and who are you willing to sell out to get it?

Turbo 5B,
Not at all. What I am saying is that why would you put yourself in a position were you have to suffer you lot to get a management position. I would rather walk over hot coals than deal with some of you. What I did try to say that the exec, contrary to what some may think or like to think, is not a path to management. Ok granted some have gone that way but think of how many exec member there have been since the inception of the ALAEA and how many have jumped the fence. Very sort odds the way I see it. Great pain little gain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rudderless 1,
I think this will answer your question too.

they were just exercising Q's standard, blatent disregard for Engineers with only one purpose of feathering their own nest, these people were left to flourish for far too long and one still fervours from from it in AVV & I wouldn't give a person like that the steam off my excrement let alone a seat of power

Has anyone heard the rumour that S.F. has been relieved of his position on the ALAEA Exec ?

Can anyone confirm this ?

Apparently it all comes about from his well documented poor form on the ALAEA forum and then at one of the Sydney Exec briefings.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was voluntary, I think you will also see the RAT desert the sinking ship soon. He was promised an easy reign as President. Just goes to show you can't trust everything B.D. tells you.

P.S. that should read 'anything'
