They could, it's just that they didn't want to. Myself I think they look great considering any A320 on the ground is a very very ugly beast. Only slightly better in the air too.

I have the distinct belief that the colour scheme was devised by Queer Eye for the Straight Airline....

It certainly is one of those colour schemes that negates the need for strobes, anti-collision, pulsing landing lights, sirens, and possibly even logo lighting. Maybe it was a brilliant piece of economics, since now they don't have to pay for those illumination and recognition devices?

... they've had a 'Colouring comp' running for some time apparently and the winning kid(?) gets free reign on the design/colour!
