News on the News (Wirraway)

Due to events that have occured on Friday, it is no longer possible to post full news posts anymore on PPRuNe, this
is not the fault of either PPRuNe or myself and is from external
forces, I will leave that to Woomera to explain.

We had a few ideas of posting one paragraph from an news item and giving a link to the story(see new version on my posts), but after much thought I have decided that it is not the same and not worth my time and
effort to do anymore.

For those that like to be kept right up to date with what is going
on with aviation I suggest you go to google advanced news:

http://news.google.com

Top right go to Advanced News Search

Here just type in 'exact phrase' your choice eg: Virgin Blue, Jetstar
Qantas etc

to the right where it says 'sort by relevance', change this to
'sort by date'

on the bottom you can search either 'anytime', 'last hour' 'last day' or 'past week'.

When you get into the list eg: Qantas, at the bottom of this page you
have the option to set a "News Alert" and will be emailed any
news articles on Qantas or whoever you choose as it is released. you are
allowed to set up to 7 "News Alerts" qantas, virgin blue. jetstar etc.

Hope this helps, and thanks again for your support over the past
few years.

A bloody shame, Wirraway. It has always been very useful to just look up and see the latest from you. Biggest thing is I think it may effect Pprune in a bigger way as I am sure many people tune into here for that specific reason. Now without any fact before the dribble I shudder to think what we may be left with.
Anyway Thanks once again Wirraway.

Thanks, this is what happens when 'people' in high places
apply pressure to other 'people' in high places to apply a gag as
to what is happening around the place in the futile attempt
that PPRuNe's don't read too much negative news.

Use that news alert that I have posted and keep yourself informed.

Cheers and Beers

Wirraway,

Good on you mate for providing a valuable service to the Australian aviation industry. Its a shame that it will stop, pprune will be the worse for it. Anyway thanks once again for all of your considerable efforts.

Cheers

BS

PS Woomera would you please care to offer an explanation?

Yes, what gives Woomera?
I am most interested also. Surely if an article is out in a paper for public viewing it should be fine to be displayed here too ?????

In a word - No! You will have to accept Wirraway's explanation: "...it is no longer possible to post full news posts anymore on PPRuNe, this is not the fault of either PPRuNe or myself and is from external forces......"

Wirraway,
Sorry to see you go. Thanks for the top job. I suppose you are relieved that you won't have to be awake at 0100 to get the latest news on to Prune before anybody else, though... and I suppose now I'll have to buy the @#$%^& paper!

Woomeri,
Thanks for that in-depth explanation. Now I understand!

I think from the general tone of most of the more recent articles, it is pretty obvious who applied the pressure.

I guess we can assume that PPRuNe got bullied by certain managements.

Not only that, but PPRuNe is obviously a bit frightened of the consequences of giving an explanation and fingering the guilty parties.

No wonder we get cynical and a bit paranoid from time to time.

I guess we will have to do it ourselves - paraphrase the story and/or provide a link (is this allowed?)

Maybe Steve Creedy has had enough of my criticism of his poorly researched newspaper articles on aviation and had his bosses apply pressure to PPRuNe, Woomera, Wirraway etc. If so, my apologies guys but boy his articles have glaring mistakes. GB

Fear,Intimidation:CENSORSHIP

The tactics used by Hitler to keep the populace uninformed have been used to inflict censorship on the forums of PPruNE.Our good friend Wirraway has been silenced. Here was a member who provided us with information on our industry that we would probably never have discovered through either lack of time or expertise.
While I sympathise with Danny and all the Moderators it is outrageous that veiled threats and intimidation have been used to limit the information and hence discussion that has previously been so much a part of PPruNE.
This post is in no way a slight on Danny but rather an observation on how BIG BROTHER has grown BIGGER(Not Smaller)in the 21st Century.
I can only hope that this is not the beginning of something more sinister.

Qantas caps foreign crews

Is this acceptable

They are slowly becoming irrelevant because of the widespread use and instant nature and (uncensored) content of the internet.
Then where are we going to go for the "news" then.
I have internet subs to several "e newspapers " including the NY Times.
