I miss Wirraway's news updates, they gave the board topics for debate, informed those of us offshore in "one easy click", and generally kept everyone on the straight and narrow and not too much rumour.

D&G just does not seem the same anymore, it would be great if the Chief Pilot, Woomera et al could find a workaround, and we could get W back to work delivering the news first to D&G.

Yes I agree and I said it would be the case. Without the industry news I think we have all already noticed the lack of factual imformation and debate coming in. And im sure Woomera has too. Come on son, try and find a way around it and get the news back. D&G will/is becoming LESS irrelevant by the day. Dont let it happen.....

WOOMERA,

If we are all jumping to the wrong conclusion, then your obtuse behaviour and lack of a simple and succinct explanation can only be to blame.

I miss the news updates too.

However, I thought Woomera explained that it was a copyright issue...

And there was me thinking that if you named the source and author of the report, you were covered!

If indeed there was a complaint from Australian Boring, then the simple answer is to make it very clear that the members of the aviation community that frequent this site will seek alternative products to those advertised in the aforementioned rag!

Copyright pure and simple.

There is a perfect workaround based on the principle of 'fair usage.'

Regretably no-one with the time to put it into action after I wrote to all involved on the Australian side of the house.

WIRRAWAY ....
Thanks for your informative posts and diligence for "watching the media " over the last few years.

I, like many others, have found your "media watch" very informative, if NOT accurate ?(thanks Journos!!!!!!!!!)

Perhaps.... no....... a silly Idea ...........

MAYBE...Just MAYBE .........

Aviation could be reported by PROFESSIONALS ??????

Maybe ... CHANNEL 7/9/10 COULD subcontract SOME proFESSIONAL PILOTS/ OR SIMILAR to report on AVIATION related newsmatters ??????

HOWEVER.......

before they start talking $$$$$$$

maybe we should get a new union ?

Happy easter everyone!

Buster; No such rank as colonel in the RAF or the RAAF for that matter. Equivalent would be Group Captain I think.

Sorry Pinky, I was actually answering Colonel Hannibal, not saying he was a Colonel.

However, I didn't know that anyway. Cheers!

The copyright issue has been around since Gutenberg invented movable type and a lawyer with time on his hands saw a way to generate revenue.

The major news publishers take a dim view of others reproducing their verbiage, and take the same dim view when you quote a deep-link URL pointing to an article in their bowels of their websites.

There's nothing to stop people commenting here on news articles. Just listen to breakfast radio to hear how news articles stimulate conversation and phone calls every day. All you need to do is reference the story, as in: "I saw in the paper that Jester had some kind of engine surge over Bass Strait on Saturday night, continued on to YMMV on one donk, what do you reckon"...

Long live rumour, innuendo and uninformed debate.

Cheers!

Pinky, I wouldn't be too sure where the poms are concerned. I have seen service docs for an oz army officer who was in the british army and rose to the rank of Group Captain.

Deaf

Sure you're not blind as well???

Aussie service ranks are the same as Pommie ones (We got them from them).

There is no rank of Group Captain in the Pom army.
