SQ to boost Melbourne and Brisbane frequencies

Singapore Airlines plans to increase flight frequency from Melbourne and Brisbane to Singapore to triple daily, boosting total network capacity by 5 per cent from the end of March.

The capacity increase will see SQ serving each of the major Australian cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane non-stop three times daily.

Subject to government approval, the additional flights will also further increase the connection opportunities between Australia and other growth regions such as north Asia.

SQ’s growth on the Brisbane route is particularly strong, with the airline having tripled its capacity in just four years.

The additional capacity will come online with the introduction of the northern summer schedule on March 27, 2005.

Frequency to Christchurch will be increased to daily.

Well, SQ operate three daily flights from SIN to LHR so maybe these extras will tie in with them? Not to mention other daily flights to Athens, Rome, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and New York etc. as well as possibly feeding their US West Coast services and numerous HKG services. I think the BNE flights are already J/EY only, probably going to use the B777, after all, they ordered 77 of them!
From my own experience SQ flights to/from Australia have usually been fairly full.

Would it be that SQ is not so Sydney centred?
