Dick Smith Uses the Radio!!

Dick's finally seen the light!! Using the radio is good!!! In this article he says
"The biggest advantage has come from simplifying the system so that pilots concentrate on their radios when in the approach and departure airspace of an aerodrome," said Mr Smith, who turned 60 yesterday.
Thank god for that. And now that he's sixty, HOW ABOUT RETIRING??!!

PS: What were pilots previously "concentrating on"? Looking out the window??

PPS: Bit of a shame that listeing to the airport frequency was never part of your silly NAS education. The drivers were only told, in plain language, what to listen too after industry complained bitterly that your NAS literature was garbage.

oh dear .. he's 60 ..

what's worse, him 'working' and coming up with another idea to reform things,

or

'retiring' and coming up with LOTS more ideas on reforming things

even in the good old days, he wasn't flash with the radio, but then I guess playing chicken with the gaggle at Kakadu whilst flying single pilot IFR in your own jet kinda made you a bit busy ...
