Yssy Ts

Virtually every day for a fortnight, SYD has experienced TS, yet the TAF's keep forecasting PROB30 TS. Why not just put TS on the F/C and be done with it? Any MET people out there care to comment?

Don't forget the TAF only covers 5nm around the airport.
So while many suburbs of Sydney may be copping a hiding, Sydney airport may not.
How many TS's have passed within that 5nm circle around Sydney Airport in the last fortnight..maybe 30%.

Who cares, you still have to carry the holding fuel!

Or maybe you're one of those people who thinks PROB30 means you only need 30% of the fuel

There's something wrong with Sydney forecasting in general (not so much aviation forecasts) if you have a look at the Aust B.O.M. website for Sydney's daily Metro forecast not only can it change dramatically 3 or 4 times a day - you can watch the Weather radar and realise they have no clue - they can forecast a fine sunny day, and the Wx radar will clearly have a row of cells moving through.....
