Question Posting from work at Airservices

Have noticed I can no longer post from any computer (for my account anyhow) at Airservices Australia. I would only do so usually on the doggo, so not being able to has cut down my vitriol levels nicely...

Anybody else had any problems? Is it just me or a new policy/firewall/don't-let-the-b@stards-talk-to-anybody thing?

A lot of companies (esp non aviation) have IT polices banning posting on internet forums with work equipment. Its to do with vicarious liability among other things. Hardly censorship. If you work at one of these companies and feel the need to post; what's wrong with doing it at home?

You should probably count yourself lucky that you can even read the forums at all from work! I know of some companies that would block out this sort of website from any sort of acess whatsoever!

Same. I have noticed that I can read and open the reply screen but I always get the server not found (or what ever alert) after I hit send. I did however manage to make a post from the CBT room in Brisbane this week so whilst it may just be certain computers that you can't, it is possible that it is a network issue. Nothing would surprise me either way. I used to play real thugz with the boys from the sector for a while online but the powers that be decided that we should not and blocked it.

Woomera nicely suggested another way to do it but it didn't work. Either did my reply to his PM

Its really wierd, I can look at any page I like, I just can't post.

I can even still post on other forums like the Canard Community (which is also a VB forum) or AGACF (tho they don't like my pseudo, um, pswedo, um, piseaudo, um, nickname).

I have noticed (twice) my Norton here at home has deleted a Mariella-C Worm (or something like that, I thort it was a Maestro message and deleted it before reading it) immediately after posting, maybe Big Brother is just protecting my work files??

Erm, negative on the star trek uniform, but I am wearing a SevTrek the X Generation t-shirt...

As someone who's posting had pprune banned at AN, should know, I've not come across a viewing option without posting as well. Can you upload to anything?

This could be a workplace issue as there do not appear to be any "blocks" or "bans" from this end.

I will ask the experts in Admin.

I expect that any address containing the reply option ie

http://www.pprune.org/forums/newreply.php?s=&action=newreply&threadid=116761

is blocked

tobzalp has neatly outlined the way in which any system administrator can block contributions. But I do wish he'd delete it. Wouldn't want it catching on you know.

Some of you might get problems on your home computers that might appear similar. In this case it's not big brother. The privacy/anti pop up/firewall software many of you are installing can work with a rather broad brush.

The most common case is for the submit or reply to post buttons to disappear. You need to calm down the settings on the software as it's reading our caption blocks as pop ups. We are not doing anything to your system from the UK if you see this happening. You have to sort it out at your end.

Regards
Rob Lloyd

PS - Spodman, sorry that hint via Woomerites didn't work for you but it was worth a try.

It came in the same time NAS stage 2B came in, you are only required to listen out, and turn your lights on, no communication required

Wouldn't that be typical in this modern age of 'managerialism! Hope this IS just a glitch but if it is not, why don't some of you so called managers get a life? - because there is not much point to the one you have at the moment. Pathetic.
