Qantas leases three new Airbus planes from Singapore firm

SINGAPORE : Australia's Qantas Airways will lease three new Airbus A320 planes from Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) for its low-cost unit Jetstar, the companies said Wednesday.

The planes, currently in production and due for delivery in June and July, will be configured to Jetstar's specification to accommodate 177 passengers in a single-class layout.

"SALE has offered a professional and flexible service which will allow Jetstar to commence its A320 operations in July this year to coincide with the Australian peak season," Jetstar chief executive Alan Joyce said in a statement.
