Post Regional Airline rumours & news from OZ and the Pacific

Here are some rumours and news I've heard recently.

REX
They are now operating under the 1 AOC. Until recently the airline was using both Hazelton's and Kendell's AOC's. Two former Kendell aircraft EKN and EKG were ferried out of the country recently, both aircraft were flown to Sweden. The airline is still in the process of receiving more Saab's from the USA. The aircraft from the USA are ex- Business Express aircraft.

Mac-air
Will start Brisbane - Moranbah flights on the 2nd Feb 2004.

O'connor
Are still looking at replacing their J32 fleet. The J41 is still the favourite aircraft for their replacement

Sunstate
Will reduce the Dash 8-100 fleet from 5 to 1 next year. Out of the 6 new Dash 8-300's ordered Sunstate will receive 3 and Eastern 3.

Alliance
They have plans to introduce another 4 F100's (not 2 has stated in AA). They will announce new routes early in the new year.

Sunshine Express
Continue to evaluate their fleet requirements, despite what has been posted in the past, they have no plans to introduce the E120. The J32 and the B1900D are being evaluated has Metro 3 replacements and the Dash 8-100 is the likely aircraft to replace the Shorts 360.

A new airline is planning on starting flights between Port Macquarie, Lismore and Brisbane. The airline will use the C208 Caravan.

Vanair
Are still looking at introducing an ATR 42 in the new year.

Airlink (PNG)
Like Vanair still have plans to introduce the ATR. There should be an announcement within the next 2 weeks.

Regional (PNG)
Will introduce an E120 next month. The aircraft is believed to be the ex-Heavy-Lift machine.
