Bird strike for air NZ!

A bird-strike has forced an Air New Zealand plane to make an emergency landing at Dunedin airport.

The Boeing 737-300 turned back shortly after taking off for Christchurch just after 11am.

Inspector Warren Kemp says emergency services were put on standby as the plane circled Dunedin before landing safely on one engine.

There were 90 passengers on board at the time, many of them bound for Auckland.

I watched ZK-NGO rotate and noticed nothing unusual. It injested a bird into the port engine. Pilots noticed vibration and returned on 21 to land . Engineers replaced 5 fan blades no damage to engine core. Run up and fixed by early evening . Leaves tomorrow morning around 7.30am. Huge dramatisation by media (Les Bloxham must be on holiday as he wasn't commenting on tv).TV ONE said it returned on one TURBO??? what Wrs.

Actually both engines were running. One just at a reduced power setting.

Another "accurate" press botch-up!
