Virgin Blue pilot's were told only a week ago there would be no pacific Blue a/c flying in Oz (domestic routes). Mr Godfrey on Business Sunday this morning announced there may now be a "LOW COST" Pacific Blue as a third player into the Oz domestic market.
He also scoffed at suggestions there were morale and pay issues with Virgin staff. They had negotiated a 14% increase in the EBA's over the next 2 1/2 years. The staff turnover was around 9% since start up which was among "the best in the world".
Everything is going well so let's not here any more complaining from you Virgin people!

Sperm Bank I would like to see the transcript of the interview as at no point did I hear of interpret Godfrey as saying that PB could start a Low Cost domestic operation.
There IS morale issues at VB and the turnover rate of staff is higher than 9%. Maybe not on the whole but Cabin Crew are losing more per month than they are training.

Brett Godfrey: Haven't quite finalised that, we still have an Australian international AOC that we're working towards, so we may end up with an Australian version - Pacific Blue, Pacific Blue Australia for instance but I don't really want to play that card today I think we want to get the Tasman sorted out.

Additionally smasha, I don't think your claim about cabin crew members is quite correct. They are certainly not losing more than they are training each month.
CC are being pushed to the absolute limit but most of them are for the most part putting up with it in the short term. It certainly wont last however!

Your suggestion that Ryan Air would have to offer free flights or even pay you to fly is interesting, as I have read an interview with the CEO of Ryan Air and he is predicting in the future that airfares will indeed be free. The cost of the flights will be met by the cities vying for tourist revenue. He does have some very interesting ideas and he has already given away one million seats on his network, as well as being highly profitable.

Did no one else notice Godfrey's marked discomfort when the question was asked regarding staff disquiet and pay rates. He was clearly not expecting it and the answer was all over the shop.
