Airlines compete for Cook Islands business

Competition on air routes to Cook Islands has prompted Air New Zealand to offer discounted fares.

Three days after Royal Tongan Airlines began flying to Rarotonga in the southern Cook Islands, Air New Zealand offered new special return fares out of Auckland.

The fares match the best price Royal Tongan airlines is offering in an introductory deal that expires after three weeks.

Air New Zealand says its lowest Auckland-Raratonga return fare will remain available until January 3 next year.
