I believe that it has something to do with the frequency of taking the FEAST test (? is that correct?)

So, given there are no stage 2's now until May you'd probably be OK. I suggest getting in touch with HR though, and just asking the honest question.

1 question of my own..

Are there any qualified NATS controllers who can give me a good opinion on the SkyTest preparation Software?

Having searched PPRuNe, it seems that it's mentioned in passing a lot, but never really in detail.

I have my stage 2 this May, and I feel it might really help me?

Cheers!
Phil

I shall let you know in February, Phil...

ZOOKER 29th December 2010 18:07

I'm sorry,
what is a 'career test'?
What is 'Sky Test preparation software'?
For that matter, what is a "landing and arithmetic test'?

sambatc 29th December 2010 18:32

zooker,

they're all types of fish :ok:

PhiltheReaper 29th December 2010 22:06

AArkley: please do! So your stage 2 in in Feb?! I was told they don't have any Stage 2's till May :S

Career Test: not sure, I presume it is used to stream between the En Route or Aerodrome controller course?

Sky Test Preparation Software: This is a program offered by a german company privately, (for $49 odd) and is designed to help people practice Stage 1 and 2 NATS tests.

Landing and Arithmatic Test: Well I'm not quire sure, but so far with NATS things have tended to be what they say on the tin, so I presuming it's like the "landing game" on the NATS careers website, mixed with some Arithmetic problems alongside. I have heard a similar thing exists in the FEAST test as run by eurocontrol.

NOTE: I have no experience of anything other than Stage 1 of NATS testing. So I may be talking rubbish... Can't say I didn't warn ya!

Phil,

Jan 27th, but allowing 15 working days for results...

I booked in early December if memory serves; there were available dates for S2 in early 2011, but they did get snapped up rather quickly.

PhiltheReaper 30th December 2010 10:24

So it seems! :(

Oh well, it gives me time to concentrate on Uni if nothing else :)

Let us know how your S2 goes!

Happy new year for everyone!!!!

Sorry for the lack of clarification about what I called the 'Career Test'.

Basically it asks things like;

How important is job satisfaction to you?
Would you be prepared to relocate to find a job?
Is the prospect of promotion appealing to you?

None of those are actual questions, but you get the idea.

It is not about deciding the route your training takes, more about where you'd fit in the company in the grand scheme of things.

I'm still waiting for more Stage 3 dates to be listed... :)

PhiltheReaper 3rd January 2011 12:31

Interesting.. so once again I presume it is possible to 'fail' the career test?

Phil

Angels-One-Five 3rd January 2011 20:20

Yes, it is possible to fail the personality test and the 'career test'.

KirtjE 4th January 2011 14:16

I've just booked in for my Stage 3 at Swanwick for 31st March.

Can somebody confirm that the Stage 3 is at the Swanwick centre and not in Fareham..?

Anyone else doing their Stage 3 on this date? :)

sambatc 4th January 2011 14:30

Swanwick is in Fareham.... :ok:

SALH 4th January 2011 18:43

Kirt: Were you emailed stage 3 test dates today? When did you complete your stage 2 may I ask?
I passed stage 2 in October and read an email that night inviting me to only one stage 3 date which happened to be the following day at Swanwick - no good to me whatsoever living in Yorkshire!!
Since then I've received emails detailing the decrease in frequency of test dates - though having said that, it stipulated that there would still be monthly stage 3 dates :)
However, I've not heard anything regarding 2011 stage 3 dates still!! I hope they haven't forgotten me ha!
Were there many dates to opt from? And was March the earliest possible date? Thanks! :)

sambatc 5th January 2011 09:19

3 weeks till Stage 2 and counting..... time to go sharpen my brain...

Crazy Voyager 5th January 2011 11:23

Indeed, 3 weeks to go now. Anyone else than me and sambatc going down for stage 2 on the 26th?

Have any good brain sharpeners sambatc? I'm using some silly games myself when I'm in the mood :p

PhiltheReaper 5th January 2011 11:33

If you join the Help for Heroes networking site (google Heronet) they have a games section.

In there somewhere they have a tritris... where you have to play three simultaneous games of tetris! that's probably quite good.. least.. I hope so! :P

Hi Phil,

How did you manage to get a slot in May for stage 2? I got the famous e-mail saying they will let me know when there are available days. snif snif

Thanks!

KirtjE 6th January 2011 11:58

SALH: I completed my Stage 2 in November (I think) and was offered just a single Stage 3 slot for Prestwick, which I didn't want to take. So since then, I've just been rechecking the link that I was sent, and the new dates were listed there.

There was one earlier date, but it was at the Bournemouth centre, so I opted for Swanwick, as I have stayed in a nice hotel for the past two stages.

I'd recommend the 31st March so you can see me ;D haha!

PhiltheReaper 6th January 2011 13:12

Hi there!

I haven't selected my date yet, but in email contact with the HR people, I asked when dates would be released again, and they told me that they would next be running Stage 2 dates in May. (hoping I can be quick off the blocks, I should be on one of those dates!!)

Phil
