ATCO Vacancies

Not sure if I am in the right place but, could anybody tell me where I can find out about vacancies for ATCO's at Non-NATS airfields.

Tee 23rd July 2001 22:30

You might have more luck in the "ATC Issues" forum

It's a Joke 24th July 2001 10:28

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............

This IS the ATC Issues Forum (I think...........hang on, I'll check...............yup, it certainly is !)

:D :D

Bollygirl, try writing a few letters to the ATC Manager at each of the aerodromes at which you think you might like to work.

There is a world-wide shortage of controllers at the moment, so it's the right time to try.

Good luck :) :)

Tee 24th July 2001 10:40

Hello IaJ!

When I first replied to this one, it wasn't in the "ATC Issues" forum........honest!

Legs11 24th July 2001 18:05

Bollygirl,
as well as the airports try:
Senior Operations Manager
Serco Aerospace
Serco House
11 Bartley Wood Business Park
Bartley Way
Hook
Hants
RG27 9XB

Serco have a number of units around the country, and are always looking for Controllers.

U R NumberOne 24th July 2001 20:03

Bollygirl,

Just curious...why does it have to be a non-NATS airfield?

It's a Joke 24th July 2001 21:43

Teee Heee Heee, Tee..........I believe you.............honest ! :D :D :D

Spoonbill 25th July 2001 00:40

Bolly, are you asking on behalf of yourself, or for someone else?
I don't wish to be rude, but any qualified atco would have a good idea of who is employing who at the moment.
If you're an ex cadet who has an aerodrome rating but didnt make through the area/approach course, then I'm afraid you've got lot's of competition. The majority of non NATS airfields are training there own atco's at the moment, but the very large majority of these trainees are existing staff, (atca's who have been in the pipeline for sometime etc.).
If you want to email me with some info' about your exact situation, perhaps I can point you in the right direction.
(The person to write to at SERCO is Sally Johnston).

matspart3 25th July 2001 23:26

There's a vacancy at my unit...email me for further details

Snooze Vortex 27th July 2001 15:09

I think Bristol Lulsgate are short of ATCOs, but you will need an Approach rating, and preferably an Approach Radar Rating. A Met Obs Certificate would also do no harm. ;)

Squadgy 30th July 2001 22:01

Hi

Wolverhampton Intercontinental Business Airport (Halfpenny Green), are advertitising for ATCOs
www.wolverhamptonbusinessairport.co.uk

lippiatt 30th July 2001 23:49

Reference the Bristol Lulsgate recruitment info. Does anyone know if they are recruiting for ATCA's as well and what sort of salary level they offer??

TinPusher 31st July 2001 14:58

Bollygirl

Airways NZ is actively recruiting but that would mean emigrating to EnZed.
Selection criteria are high and it is important you look good in leather! :)

Springbokkie 3rd August 2001 19:23

Anyone know if they are recruiting in Canada and if so.... where, what, why, how and when????

TinPusher 7th August 2001 03:50

Springbokkie

Try www.airways.co.nz

The latest info should be available online, or at least a contact name and email address.

ex-EGLL 7th August 2001 04:48

For Canada try www.navcanada.ca, I know we are recruiting both at home and overseas. If you want more info drop mr an e-mail

Scott Voigt 8th August 2001 05:03

One thing though, we have been talking with our brothers from the north and a majority of them when polled said that they would leave NAV Canada if given a chance...

They are a rather large group of pissed off controllers right now..

regards

Snooze

Think Lulsgate have just filled the vacancy with someone from Filton.

And anyone asks if there's a Filton vacancy - not anymore :)

ex-EGLL 9th August 2001 01:31

Your right their Scott, we're not a happy bunch of campers right now, I was going to leave that explanation to an E-Mail, if anyone contacted me!!!

Isn't privatisation a wonderful thing??
:(

10W 9th August 2001 02:07

Congratulations Chilli !!

Scott Voigt 9th August 2001 02:58

ex-EGLL;

Well we are doing our BEST to not go the same route that you or the UK have gone. We are spending a bit of money working both in the press as well as with the congress to keep it from happening.

I see you are from the capitol... Makes me wish for a beaver tail <G>...

regards

A Slim Shady 9th August 2001 03:13

Scott, whats the score for UK controllers coming to the US?

ATCO Two 9th August 2001 13:52

Don't even think about it Slim!!

A Slim Shady 9th August 2001 16:23

ATCO2 it cant get much worse than EGLL is at the moment!

Scott Voigt 10th August 2001 03:25

You can come to the US, you just can't work as a controller until you get US citizenship. You need that to get your security clearance...

regards

PS. But I have been known to put folks up for the grand ATC tour < g >.

Do I understand correctly that you are ex-UK and now NavCanada? I tried to mail you but the system says "NO". I would like to pick your brain regarding NavCanada please.

Hi Bollygirl,

A major employer of non NATS ATCOs is Safeskys. They have contracts at several UK Regional airports and I have worked for them in the past.

The contact is Richard Barber
Safeskys House,
Amersham Hill Drive
High Wycombe
Bucks HP13 6QX
UK

Tel 01494 451660
Fax 01494 474377
email: [email protected]

Webpage: safeskys.co.uk

The webpage has a 'Stop Press & Jobs' page which has 4 current vacancies today. It is updated every two ot three days.

One bit of advice though. Never ever ever send your CV out to every SATCO/Manager ATS. It is usually ignored and damages you somewhat. It tells them that you are desperate and will work anywhere(i.e when you see the next better vacancy - you are off). It also says that you cannot be bothered to research an ATC job properly. Read what Safeskys advises on their webpage, its good advice.

Good luick in your search.

Thwack11, check your E-Mail
