ATC jobs in Middle East
Hello, this is my first post, but I have read a lot. I would like to know if there are vacancies for ATCs in the middle east, not only Abu Dhabi and Dubai, but in Bahrain, Qatar and the other emirates.
Any idea of the working conditions there? I only know the conditions in Abu Dhabi. Thanks. |
Hello again,
How is the situation on the ME? Any ATC jobs comming soon? Bahrain, Qatar, Oman or whatever, as only Iraq is usually found in flightjobs. Only radar jobs, as I donīt have a twr lisence. Thanks. |
Send an email to Serco Middle East and GCAA.
[email protected] [email protected] You never know when they want a body or two. Word on the street is that UAE is not actively recruiting for the rest of the year but requires staff that may be obtained from a place with a few too may. |
I'm retired FAA and have been working in Afghanistan for the past 3 years and I've been trying to get a ATC job in the UAE for several years. I have tower and radar approach licenses, so don't feel alone about not hearing anything from Serco or GAL.

Hello Akhorahil,
you can apply for a job in the Muscat ACC, Oman; they are still in sheer need of experienced en-route controllers, though not advertising. A strong experience in fully automated ATM system would definitely be an asset; a new Indra ATM system is on order and should be operational by late 2014. All the best. |
My understanding is that they are restructuring in Muscat and the hiring process is on hold until completion; early 2013.
This was conveyed to me by a controller there. |
ATC In Doha
Greetings,
I would like to find out about atc recruitment in doha. I understand that only approach and aerodrome control is based in doha. Any update on the volume of traffic and remuneration package? best regards |
For Doha [email protected]
Ensure your experience is based on an hourly movement of at least 35 to 40 an hour with broad cross-section of type and classification. ATM must have a strong focus on high level of multi-tasking in an environment where controllers still drive the majority of decisions. Parrallel segregated runway Ops. If you are thinking of winding your career down (for an active position) by coming to Doha - revisit that thinking. Ciao. |

Muscat Contact
Greetings folks,
An earlier post refered to possible positons being available in the Muscat ACC although not publicly advertised. Does anybody out there have an email / website contact, an initial Google search revealed little to zilch :ok: |
The previous post you refer to is now almost 3 years old! Afaik, no recruitment is planned, yet. We will move to the new ACC later this year so, maybe something will come eventually?

I'm presuming you have a training bond to your employer if you've just finished training? You will probably struggle getting an airport in the Middle East to agree to pay your training bond off... |
hello everyone,
looking for info on landing an ATC job in the Mid East. I'm a sup at ZDC and I'm approaching mandatory retirement age October next year. I stay current on two radar sectors in a busy DC and NY flow area. Looking at all countries that hire FAA types. I'll be 55 this October and am running into problems getting a chance because of my age. Looked into the center at Abu Dhabi but they've recently had bad experiences with hiring guys my age and have instituted a 50 years old age cap. The approach at Dubai rejected a recent application because I don't have major airport approach experience. Guess major enroute experience doesn't count. I have 13 years approach tower experience at a regional airport in Virginia, including non-radar, and 12 years at ZDC, first as a controller and then as a sup. Have applications out for Serco in Bagdad and with Dans Serco in Dubai for the tower. No word yet on these two apllication Visited the center in Bahrain this past March but no vacancies yet that I've seen advertised anywhere. any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much |
If you have a valid en-route ticket, Muscat might be interested.
|
Doha in Qatar might still be looking for Approach Radar folks. Direct hire by their civil aviation authority as far as I know.
Most outfits in the Middle-East prefer ICAO endorsed tickets. Having your FAA licence converted to ICAO might also improve your chanches all round, not that I know what this process entails and timeframe involved. A couple of assesments via an ICAO recognised institution might be all that is required and might be worth the effort. Good luck. Bit of a bummer to be perfectly good at managing traffic the one day and then having to pack it in due to such a low retirement age. I am sure there is a station out there willing to give you a go and draw another couple of good vectors from your bag. |
Anybody have any contact info for hiring at Muscat ACC? I can't seem to find anything on who to contact there. Haven't seen any adverts for hiring there, but it sounds like it could be a good idea to toss my resume to them! Currently have 8.5 years experience in complex en-route, and 3.5 years experience with terminal. Just looking for a change and better climate!
Thanks in advance, TA |
And what does this have to do with getting an ATC job in the Middle East?
As thrilling as this story is, would this not be better placed in the 'Middle East' forum?! :ugh: |
