Jonathan B - no need to take any snacks. They provide lunch and also give you a starbucks voucher for the mid-day coffee break.

Air22 - there is no way you can revise/practice for these tests. The only thing you can do is to look at cubes for spatial awareness...as there are a few in there. Everything else cannot be prepared for! During the tests you will be given very clear instructions....so simply relax and have a good nights sleep beforehand.

Good luck to you both! :ok:

hatemyjob 30th Apr 2009 20:31

I sat my stage 1 test today. I flew through almost all of the tests with ease, except the spacial awareness test.:{

Im so angry with myself. I usually find the spacial awareness questions the easiest of the lot but for some reason my brain just wasnt firing today.

Im sure that this will be the only reason I wont get through and I feel liked Ive fluffed it.:ugh:

Hey, don't be so hard on yourself! If you checked your answers on the tests you say you flew through, and didn't just answer randomly, and you did your best in the spatial awareness questions, then I'm sure you'll have been fine. I didn't finish all the questions in S1 and I've just been offered a place on a course...

Something you might like to think about though....if you get through the recruitment process and onto a course, you may want to change your login name!:ok:

Stage 2

Hey,

Hope someone is able to offer some help. Ive got through my stage 1 and have my stage 2 booked for June. I was just wondering what the computer exams involve? Any help would be awesome. Thanks xx

paperclip810 1st May 2009 14:29

Tigertiger,

Start by looking up FEAST on wikipedia, and read the last 10 or so pages of this thread. That should give you a good start, and if you have any further specific questions, post again and I'm sure someone will help.

Good luck!

Thanks, im looking at the wikipedia thing now. Ill have a look at the previous threads after. If any one else has any tips be great ! :ok:

stolport 1st May 2009 15:33

Are there any recommendations for having a better chance of passing the tests - stage 1 initially? I'm not brilliant at maths - is it just a case of practicing or would a course or tutor assist? Does anyone run any courses etc which would help with passing the tests?

Thanks

Check out page 155. Whitelighter has kindly summarised all the tests that had to be done at Stage 2.

Someone also mentioned this website Lotsentest I'm sorry but I can't remember who otherwise I'd acknowledge them.

I don't think they're like the actual stage 2 tests, but they do test your multi tasking skills, spatial awareness & memory. I've had fun doing them anyway!!

Hi,

Just finished stage 2 today, the other post are accurate on here regarding what is invloved, and in my opinion i really dont think there is much you can do to prepare. Whitelighter has probably summed it up the best as paperclip says on page 155.

All i can say is, if i passed that it will be a miracle !!!!

Stolport - find as many examples of cubes and diagramatic reasoning test on the internet as you can. I found cutting up a cube and putting symbols on them and then turning them around helped. But thats just me !!!!

Good luck with it

Dont be so sure you have failed. I was certain my performance was well below par (see pages 155/156) but I passed the tests.

Some are so hard no normal human could hope to pass them, but I think part of the test is to see how you cope with failure under pressure and to make sure you dont then go to pieces.

Fingers crossed, but you probably have done better than you think.

ATCO new stage 2

I am set to sit my stage 2 on June 4th and i have been looking for some advice as to what it entails.
However I am having bother and I believe this is because the recruitment process has changed recently.
I hope someone will be able to talk me through the new stage 2 process.

Thanks for all replies in advance

David

Wouldn't your first port of call be the sticky thread at the top of the forum? A cursory glance shows there is quite a bit of discussion there about new stage 2 :ugh:

paperclip810 4th May 2009 20:09

Indeed, just take a look at the last page, which will direct you to p155 for a full account of the 'new' Stage 2.

jimmy780 4th May 2009 21:19

Thanks for the encouragement whitelighter! Just read your posts again, I think I feel the same way as you did! Now we play the horrible waiting game.

I know we don't need to learn the info some were given for the old stage 2 , but I wouldn't mind a read if anyone can send me a copy that would be cool !

paperclip810 5th May 2009 07:56

Jimmy (and anyone else who wants it),

PM me your email address and I'll send you a copy of the old Stage 2 motivation document.

Don't worry about feeling like you've failed - even with just the NATS tests, we all thought we'd done terribly!

Re-Applying

DJNICK007:

Further to your query of my comment regarding the selection process I can confirm that unfortunately if you fail at any stage of the selection process you have to retake everything the following year starting again from S1! It's a pain but I can understand why they do it. I've just sat my stage 1 tests again and waiting for a reply!:)

marco888 5th May 2009 12:45

Has anyone recently taken stage 3? I'd like to know if they are still shuffling it around. Mostly concerning the technical side to the interview.

mcgoo 5th May 2009 15:37

My stage 3 was end of March and was mainly technical with little HR.
