Misuse Of Guard Frequencies

Why do some pilots continue to misuse the guard frequencies. Since all ATCOs know of their use, I would assume that pilots would be equally aware of the importance of not using them for "idle chat". Only yesterday I listened to the following R/T exchange between 2 ac westbound coasting out over southwest Wales

ac 1 "ac 2 what is your speed?"

ac 2 "Ah we're at .72

ac 1 "We're at .75 and about to fly under you - have you got a camera onboard"

ac 2 "I'll check"

D&D controller "I'm sure you look beautiful but use your company frequency"

Good on you at D&D !!

Let's keep the frequencies clear for those who might need them - not for those posers who want to inflate their ego.

A bit of chatter is all well and good when things aren't too busy - but not - I repeat NOT on 121.5

121.5 is called "Wideroe (WIF) -company" in Norway, for obvious reasons......
