Angry LTCC New Sim Water Feature!

Just thought it might be good to share with other like minded people the fact that NATS has forked out £2400 on 3 new water features to be placed in the new ATC Sim at LTCC.

However they never made it past health and safety, so I guess they will be on offer to the highest bidder (or highest grade manager!)

Be sure to get your offers in soon before they go!

Phantom Buyer.

Good Laugh LTCC, thanks.....wonder if it was the same guy that completely [and overnight] replaced all the chairs in the old en-route ops room without any kind of trial and found that they where all too short---couldn't see the radar----hundreds of them.

No, it must have been the person who painted the soundproof tiles in the ceiling of the Tower at EGLL black to reduce glare, only to find that the room became an echo chamber!! The repainted tiles had to be taken down within 24 hours and replaced at great expense with new specially coated black ones. circa 1981

Or maybe the bloke who had the bright idea of putting the control desks at Heathrow Tower round the periphery. After considerable inconvenience and huge expense we chucked them out and went back to having the desks in the "middle".

So why were they chucked out on H & S grounds? The only reason I can think of is that the public threw in 75p worth of copper coinage, and B watch all drowned trying to retrieve it....

The reason they were rejected by H&S was because underneath the old ACR is 'The Void'. I'm led to believe that 'The Void' contains all the cables which power LATCC and even the slightest leakage could create havok!

Anyhow, don't sell 'em - why not use them as posh urinals for the 'sim pilots'? Anything to cheer the poor blighters up under the new 'regime'!

Well, it would appear that H&S have backed down over the 3 water features.

They were all up and running this morning but did little to help people relax in their new workplace. Infact, all the steady background trickle succeeded in doing was make everyone long for a visit to the lavs! Good job it's not still 'free hot bevarage' week at LTCC.

I'm surprised they will allow anything watery above the void any more. We had a 'kitchen' (actually a small room with a fridge and a sink) next to the ops room at ScACC until last year. That was when person or persons unknown left the taps running one night shift.

Apparently the unit power supply ran right underneath it and although we survived without being electrocuted or, worse still, having the radar displays go blank, the powers that be have rather wisely bolted the door shut.
