Contracting out

This topic is intended for those with first hand experience of ATC being contracted to a service provider, eg SERCO, VT
In your experience, what have been the disadvantages/advantages? On balance, has it been a success?

Contract ATC,

How about long hours, no breaks, most employees are part time, no protection against law suits, little chance for advancement, Profits over safety, need more be said.
