Student ATCO
Hello
I am considering to start training with Global ATS within half a year. I am planning to do ADI + APS ratings, but then need to find a place in the UK to validate.
Do anyone know of airports in the U.K. who accepts student ATCO's straight from school?

I think you'll find most airports with their own ANSP willl be reluctant to take you on unless there is something in it for them ie unless you commit to being employed by them for a certain number of years after you gain your certificates of competence; I've heard of too many cases recently where someone has gone to a 'small' airfield and once they have got the MER for a rating, they get a job at somewhere larger, hence the reluctance.
Training to 'solo' standard is likely to take at least 12 months for ADI then maybe another 6 months (probably longer) for APS.
Once you have completed the rating courses, I reckon (others may disagree) you would be best off trying for a contract with someone like HIAL.
Also bear in mind that ATC Training for an approved course in the UK isn't cheap; do you have enough money to pay for the courses?

Do not limit yourself to only HIAL. There are other ANSP’s at the other end of the country (and in between*) that might consider your application.
* At least 3 would definitely consider your application at the time of typing.

Hello all,
I see that the next(ongoing) phase of IAA recruitment process(for ATC) is "Work Strengths Profiling – completed online, to issue early March 2020" followed by:
- Group Interview/ Exercise - Monday 27 April to Friday 1 May 2020
If anyone has taken this group interview/exercise, please share with us some details regarding the manner in which this phase is sustained(how many people in the group?, what kind of exercises?, does it require a lot of memorization and/or quick visual analysis or quick mental calculations like in the FEAST tests?, etc.)
Thanks
Sorin
