Airport with multiple runways : total closure with fire dept response?

If you got an airport with multiple runways , if there is an accident on a particular rwy requiring the intervention of the fire department , will the airport cease all operations till the fire department is free again ? ( in my opinion that is a yes , because since the fire department is preoccupied they will not be able to attend any other incident / accident / supervisory role anywhere else )

You must be talking about the thread about the ‘cancel approach’ issue . The sim ride was ok...You know it’s hard to reach the level of corker if the guy behind on the console has more imagination than Ridley Scott and Stanley Kubrick put together :-)

Not necessarily, it will depend on each individual airport and their emergency response plan. Some airports have separate fire stations to cover one or more discrete runways.

Some airports may have a local procedure such that if they have to deploy hoses, foam etc, then all operations have to stop. If they just attend an aircraft, but don't have to roll out hoses or use any foam media, they might be able to attend another incident within their normal response time, so normal ops could possibly continue.
