Alpha16,
Just give us a cal 0141 840 8029, we're always happy to accomodate when we can, sometimes we don't have that staff available to show you round, but usually there's someone (a trainee) wh can fill you in on what we do and don't do

What type of primary radar does Glasgow have these days ? Seem to recall back in the eighties there were two 50cm (Marconi 232 or 264 ?) scanners on the Airfield. Not ideal for Radar Approach work, and a slow scan rate for SRAs, with huge radar returns at any distance! The lack of SSR was also a challenge in such a busy environment. All sorted by now, no doubt ?

You need to come and see us again, we're right out of choccies
If you want to visit Glasgow and don't get any luck with the number given, let me know. Uncle Dubya knows all sorts of people in strange places who can grease wheels. It will only cost you a Stella or two

Thank you for all your replies guys and gals, look forward to popping up the tower soon to have a look around and in return I have my pilots license and fly from the club at pf if any of you are interested in going for a wee wazz let me know at : [email protected]
just for info,
1) do you have german controllers working with you think I have heard a couple of guys over the past few months do they go through the normal training at NATS in HH?
2) is there a plan for radar control to be done by scottish like the way they turn on at luton etc just wondered!?
3) on a funnier note a pilot came to me a few days ago and said did you hear what the female controller said to me after landing she said Callsign, well done, vacate left contact ground 121.7!!! he was saying how would she like it if I said well done to her for the service provided before handover!! do you know people who do that?? I am sure it is not patronising but just being friendly but I guess the pilot had no SOH!!!
thanks for your help

Caledonian, look forward to seeing you.
Answers to your questions:
1. Yes, we do, he went throught the college like everyone else.
2. Not as yet, maybe oneday
3. Probably because he made "D" which gave her a gap she could use when other trafic was vacating at "E". Not patronising, just a compliment

Hi Eric,
I'm afraid not, I'm just a mere youngster, PF 1990-1994, sadly just a fleeting visit, but with many happy memories
Take care
