Radar vectoring and altitude restriction
Hi guys.
I have a doubt and I hope someone can help me out with that.
Letīs say that I am flying to Heathrow from the south and I am cleared to fly the
OCK 4B arrival and descend to FL130 to be leveled by Hazel. When descending I am recleared to fly direct to Ockham and to descend to FL110. Do I still have to comply with the FL130 restriction abeam Hazel(fly abeam Hazel at 130) ?. The same question if I am given radar vectors.
Thanks in advance.

Oh, this one again...
No you don't have to comply. The altitude restriction needs to reiterated.
There has been disagreements on this before between pilots and ATCOs.

In the airspace referred to in your example it is very likely you will be radar vectored slightly to the east of HAZEL. In these circumstances the controller will expect you to be FL130 abeam HAZEL. When you are cleared direct OCK and FL110 any previously specified level restriction is cancelled by the new clearance and MUST be repeated if still required.
As posted by 172 driver, this question is frequently asked. It is a 'grey' area and I suggest if there is any doubt about what the controller expects it is worth asking for clarification.

I expect the most recent level clearance to be the pertinent one. If I need you to comply with both I will repeat the first and give you the second in the same clearance eg "JET123 cleared direct FGHIJ, cross abeam ABCDE at or above FL130, cross FGHIJ FL110".

Thank you guys.
Thatīs what I thought and I always did it like this but I have a colleague that always says that we have to comply with the restriction when abeam and thatīs why my question.
Thank you.

Maybe this will help to make it clear.....or maybe not.
I'm long out of ops but back in my day we followed the basic rule as described by Una Due Tfc that any clearance replaces an earlier one and if any restrictions still applied (e.g. level abeam) they must be restated. Nonetheless, it was often a cause of discussion, sometimes heated, because some interpreted the rules differently. The document linked above is supposed to clear things up - hope it helps!

We, London enroute, have just a reminder issued on our briefing system about this.
It specifically states that we MUST restate the level restriction if we want you to comply with it when routing to a new point
