Manchester Control RT Volume
Have any other pilots (who may be visiting this forum!) noticed that when handed over to Manchester Control from London Control, they have to crank up the volume? Perhaps someone from MAN area may be able to answer this puzzle!
This is puerly an observation, and not a critercism of the top class work done at MAN.

Powers that be probably decided in their wisdom, that as we are a small quiet unit of no major consequence we don't deserve the same power output of our transmitters as Swanick!! Thereby saving money as CASH is KING!!!

'volume'' to use an antiquated term, in amplitude modulated transmissions, is due to the depth of modulation. The engineers at MAN probably set this to a more conseravitive level that those further south.

Without going into "the lounder you shout, the better you are heard!" debate, it does seem to be a volume issue. The transmissions from Manchester are received OK just quiet! Hence having to wind the volume up and down all the time. Hope that goes a little further in explanation!
