Goodbye Gordon

An e-mail greeted everybody at NERC this morning, explaining that Gordon Doggett had decided to retire early, at the end of July, instead of awaiting the end of his contract in the autumn. I'm sure that many of the younger NERC staff won't know who he is, because Gordon does seem to have been a bit of a recluse of late. Nevertheless, Ian Hall gave him an effusive pat on the back for his work in bringing NERC into service, and I'm sure that Gordon will enjoy the extra time with his young family.

Now, there are other members of SMG whose contract also expires around the same time, and whose demise is far more eagerly awaited. I wonder who will be around to write their valedictory e-mail.....
