UK Phraseology

Good morning everybody,

I was wondering if somebody keeps an old copy of MATS I with the phraseology Appendix E. I can't find it anymore since they made the CAP 413, which I think it's worst.

Why did the CAA change that!! Waiting for your answers!
Thank you!!

Fagundo,
If you Google 'CAP493' you can download the whole of the current U.K. MATS Part 1. The Phraseology Appendix E is still included.

Thanks Zooker,

That's the point, in Internet I only could find the current CAP493. And even when phraseology has change during the last years I still prefer the examples in the old appendix E.

Btw, I already got it thanks to "lookingforajob"

Cheers,

But if you are a professional ATCO or pilot you must use the current phraseology not the old version just because you prefer it!

I didn't say I didn't use the current phraseology in CAP413.

Old examples in Appendix E are just an extra help, which I find really helpful.

I emailed the CAA a few months ago (quite a few months ago really!) to have a wee complain about it. The chap on the other end said they were looking at re-introducing it as they've had so many complaints ..particularly from those involved in training/OJTI.

Fingers crossed! Appendix E is much easier to use for professionals than the CAP413 "Idiots Guide to RT".

I have heard the same, that they wanted to bring back the old appendix E. Let's see when and how they do it

The CAA chaps briefed the last Phraseology Working Group in February this year that the old format of the attachment to Appendix E of the MATS Part 1 would be included in the amendment to CAP 413 to be published in October/November this year. People might be surprised to know however that there are many "professionals" who are more than happy with the way that the phraseology is currently presented in CAP 413 - each to their own

Possibly "professionals" who do not need easy quick reference to the available phraseology for specific situations. But then I believe that the decision was made by a majority of working group members who were not ATC and therefore who had no business influencing the decision - rather akin to Scottish MPs voting on English legislation.
