I am currently working as cabin crew out of LGW, have seen that NATS are recruiting and telephoned a couple of days ago. An application form is on its way, but before filling it in I feel I need to do a little research. To this end I have spoken to a careers advisor and visited NATS website. I would really appreciate any hints, tips or advice you can give me regarding all aspects of both the job itself and the selection process.
Cheers

Often overlooked by wannabe ATCOs (myself included!): http://www.eurocontrol.int/jobs/index.html

Thanks
Thanks all of you for your replies, have had a good read through all of the information posted over the last few months. The application form is filled out and posted, "it's in the hands of the Gods now!!" Fingers crossed

Sorry to hijack this thread, but....
I too am looking to apply for the NATS positions, and I do have two quick questions.
1) I come from a background in IT. Would this be considered beneficial?
2) Would having a PPL be seen as a bonus, or is quite normal for ATCO's to have this?
I'm sorry if these sorts of questions have been covered before, it's my first time on this board ( I'm a long time wannabees resident!)
cheers

WO, a background in IT would not really be seen as an advantage. Having a PPL is naturally an advantage but it's a lot different receiving the instructions than giving them.
Best thing to do is apply, read the pack sent to you, do your own research and visit at least two units. I'd advise a flight on a flight deck too but that will be tricky these days. The college will teach you all you need to know. Good luck.

Smoggie,
if you want to get some idea what an ATC radar picture looks like, try this ATC Simulator for the PC.
