Glasgow and Edinburgh are splitting the Spanish traffic 70%/30%. The Germans are going to Prestwick. Departures start at 2345 from Glasgow.(Maybe later if there is extra time and penalties). Don't know about Prestwick or Edinburgh. Don't even know how many planes are expected.

Glasgow are expecting around another 60 scheduled aircraft, plus god knows how many biz jets (UEFA are sending between 20 and 40 alone).
Not sure where they'll be parking them, rumour has it rwy 10/28, but they won't get many on there, my guess is they land off load the slf, go somewhere else. come back and collect slf, then leave, busy night all round I reckon, glad I'm off

When we had the UEFA cup final between Arsenal and Galatasaray in 2000, there were around 40 or 50 more aircraft, most of them departed late evening/night. We used a runway (12/30) for most of the parking, trouble was that people couldn't enter on the tarmac, so all aircrafts had to wait for a gate and a truck!
The airport was divided in a turkish half and british half for security reasons. Maybe the should have done the same with the city!
Cheers from Copenhagen!

I'm sure as hell not looking forward to it. We are expecting around 30 biz jets in glasgow and it is busy enough on a wednesday already!
The only good thing is that its all overtime!
radar707
all the biz jets are staying once they drop the pax.

My techie amigos tell me that there was a suggestion (from Scotland) that it might be a good idea to cancel the cutover thing that means SWIMM happens. The Swanwick big cheeses thought this not a good idea so it's going ahead.
A source close to a Swanwick supervisor said that the last time this happened 'there was chaos' and this was during winter schedules.
The thought of several 747 loads of beered-up footy fans waiting for slots through Swanwick airspace (if it's actually opening that night) doesn't bear thinking about, does it?

A bit on the sarcastic side Findo?
What I meant was that somebody trashed our beautiful capital pretty good.
I'm not sure if it was the turks or the british who started it, in fact i'm not even sure they were watching the game!
Best of luck to the scottish! (and the spanish, certainly NOT the germans...)

Henrietta....
Actually the last DD&C (SWIMM = Swanwick In Manual Mode for those who are still mystified) went rather well at Swanwick........ but then the traffic levels had been reduced to near zero by 2330 local and were not allowed to increase until 0200ish local.
Might I suggest that the last departure from EGPF/PH/PK heading "down south", needs to be away by 2230 local at the latest...... no, ain't gonna happen is it?
I hope NATS management have an answer when those "Beered up footy fans" run amok in EGPK/PF/PH becasue their return flights have been delayed by the DD&C.

Another rumour from this morning is that some of the Spanish traffic will be routed down through Irish airspace and the Tango routes to avoid LACC.
The watch that are on at ScACC that night are fully prepared for being rather busy and have staffed it accordingly.
Who in their infinite wisdom could not sanction a 24 hour delay into whatever needs to be done at Swanwick and with NAS ?
This will make us look really good to our European colleagues.

Yes, the Tango routes will work, But it's adding an awful lot of extra track miles just because "The Largest (non-) Operational ACC in Europe" has to be completely shut down every 28 days .

It's only adaptation changes going out next week.
Are there any external centre changes happening that night that force the timing of the change?
BEXIL - We don't need to DD&C every 28 days, it is nice to restart the computers but is not essential.
