Standard Instrument Departures

One for those in the know:

The SIDs at Leeds Bradford (EGNM) have recently reduced somewhat. We still have the LAMIX and DOPEK, FIWUD and Wallasey SIDs have gone, NELSA remains and Pole Hill has been curtailed to just RW14 departures. Does anyone have any explanation for these changes ? Do they reflect altering traffic levels in this region or is it a simplification job ?

By the way, who (or which department) in the UK is responisble for devising SIDs ? Is it done by local airport ATC units or is it a central responsibility elsewhere ?

Thankyou.

Design of SIDs in the UK is now privatised (just like every thing else in the UK)

It might surprise you but a lot of SIDs / STARs in the UK were designed by a company in Slovakia

However the responsibility for development rests with the airport and with the ultimate sign-off by the CAA
