Basic straight onto radar seems unusual, are you ex-mil?

Not unusual these days, it depends on what discipline the sponsoring unit needs at the time, I personally did Basic then straight onto APP, I didn't do ADI till a year later and there were several on that course who had only APS. All civil.

How can you do APS if you haven't done APP? What happens if the radar suddenly fails?

The UK APS course covers radar outages, or as one college puts it: "equip entrants with the skills required to confidently deal with traffic in the event of a radar failure".

Does NATS even run APP courses these days?

I am ex-mil but our unit has tower controllers coming out of it's ears. Hence the radar course.

What's the point of APP in a busy sector? You won't handle it anyway.

Dean,

Hotel? Nah, I'll be slumming it in a rental. Full details not worked out as yet though.

Hoping for someone to come in with me for a house rather than a single room. Am liaising with the college at the moment.

Cheers
