Serco - GMATS vacancy

Manager ? Air Traffic Services - 1401095699 - Flight Jobs

With due respect to Serco's existing UK contracts, this sounds far more involved than anything they've been involved in in the UK for a long time.

Possibly in conjuction with a UK tender they are currently or about to be involved in perhaps?

I think it's the most northerly airfield in the UK, not a bd job if you like 146's sea kings and puffins

I don't think you'd get 146s in to Unst. Could it be the 2nd most northerly airfield in the UK?

146 and Sea Kings are long gone. It's Saab 2000,Bristow S92 or AS32 or EC225at EGPM now. It's was Brymon with the Dash 7 that use to operate into Unst.

GMATS

GMATS is the rationalisation of the Armed Services ATC Services.

It includes ATC engineering and encompasses all RAF, Army and Navy ATC.

It is an equipment, staff and management contract and is worth in excess of £200 million. The plan is to rationalise all MoD's disparate ATC.

The services will contractorise some of their ATCO and ATC Engineers posts to civilians and keep a core military staff for overseas deployments etc.

Serco have not won anything yet, this advert is a fishing ad.

Other companys, (Serco, NATS Safeskys etc) are also bidding.

No it isn't

There IS a post for a 'Manager - Air traffic Services' at Scatsta. In Shetland. In a swamp. In the rain.

There may well be another airfield GMATS vacancy within Serco, but as Dickie says, I suspect that there is quite lot more to it.

I'd subsequently heard much the same as what he's written.

Gisajob, you are thinking of JMATS (Joint Military Air Traffic Services).
