Working in paradise

I was looking around in wikipedia at the page called "List of Area control centers" and noticed a nice center placed in honolulu, Hawaii ! Sounds like a dream to work there in paradise and probably getting pretty well paid also.
Any one know of other similar beautiful places and Control centers?
My guess is that the que to thoes places are pretty long, agree?

I've heard that Shawfarm Road Tracon is pretty popular.

There are other places which we preferred to Hawaii which, despite being very beautiful, is very comercialised. Look at some of the smaller South Pacific islands - they really are "Paradise".

Maybe they could do a "Living in the Sun" episode for controllers?

Centres on Smaller Pacific Islands????

HD

I think you will find the closest thing to a "Centre" on a South Pacific Island would be Christchurch Centre in New Zealand.
You could always throw your name in the hat for a job there - there is a near permanent recruitment notice for experienced controllers on Airways NZ website (but then it would be a lifestyle choice, not money that attracted you there)

There is of course Brisbane Centre in Australia, but the line for applicants for that one stretches all the way to Melbourne

Don't think there are any smaller South Pacific Islands with a Centre as such - mostly procedural approach, operated from the tower. Oceanic control is looked after by Auckland and Brisbane.

Do Nadi (Fiji) still provide Oceanic for the middle bit of the S Pacific. In my day, almost 30 years ago, they were largely localised with support from NZ but I have heard there have been problems. Incidentally having spent 5 years in the S Pacific it's my opinion that you take your paradise with you. If you are a dissatisfied sort of individual you'll find fault wherever you go. Personally I wouldn't have missed my time out there for anything, but there were some downsides.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Here are pictures of the FAA's San Juan CERAP (Center, Approach) and Tower. It's a nice place to live . . . with qualifications.
