ATCOs working conditions and payment

1. Is it acceptable for ATCOs to get hourly wage in your country? And are there any similar examples in other EUROCONTROL or ICAO countries, if you are aware?
2. What kind of subjects are included in annual licence extension tests in your country? How many years is this validation and medical check in effect?
3. How much is your traffic movement (departures, arrivals, overflights) and how much money do your ATCOs get monthly?
4. Is this job considered as a harmful and complicated and if yes, it is payable?
5. What kind of bonuses do ATCOs get besides main salary?

Any answers and PM are appreciate.

Thanks

No jokes.

In the UK, ATCO's and all other employees of NATS get free company shares awarded each year, which a couple of years down the line can be sold for cash. Some may call that a bonus in addition to the main salary. They can also buy company shares at a very heavy discount from the current value - again a bonus of sorts.

And while i'm here (all for UK):

1) I am not aware of any ATCO's in the UK payed by the hour.
2) Annual check. At my unit it is a practical check followed by an oral assesment. Subjects range from local procedures for the sector to national procedures in the UK MATS1. This could vary according to each unit's competancy scheme, but will generally be similar. Medicals are every 2 years if you are under 40, then every year.

3) and 4) related to the UK at least could open a huge can of worms and take the thread away from where you originally intended, so I won't comment for now!

Sorry if this post may be deemed as helpful. Seems we are not allowed to do this on the ATC forum anymore

To expand on BDBM's post,

Qualified instuctors get a payment every 3 months, and also an hourly rate based on the number of hours training they have delivered.

Other payments that are on top of main salary are:
Shift payment
London payment

When you become either an instructor or a supervisor (whichever happens first) you go up the pay scale by one point, and you go up the pay scale by a half point when you become an examiner.

1. NO, and unaware.
2. What kind of subjects are included in annual licence extension tests in your country? How many years is this validation and medical check in effect?
list of Subjects: Meteorology, common atc procedures, atc equipment, structure of airspace, search and rescue procedures, human factor.
atc and medical license are valid for 2 years.
3. ACC-sectors and the busiest approach at Kiev has around 350-400 traffic/24h. Other APPs handle not more than 100 traffic. Salary is everywhere the same and its approximately 700 €/month
4. It`s considered to be harmful, that`s why we get extra 24% bonus to main salary and +few days of holidays.
5. Bonuses:
1) "for knowing English" - 10% to main salary
2) 24% for harmful work (as already mentioned)
3) +15% for working at night shift
4) for food - 70€/month)))
5) bonus for length of service: from 5% after 1 year up to 40% after 20 years.
6) twice a year we get some kind of 13th salary (year bonus, if u didn`t have any reproof) and 14th salary (called "for health-improvement")
7) Bonuses for national holidays (like New Year, Independence day and a few more) in total it can be 1500€/year.
In-spite of this awesome list of bonuses, after paying taxes we get just 15000€/year.
