OXF departure

Out of OXF we were cleared initially Fl050, passing the 3000'ft (3000'= Trans alt. according Jepp. plate) we selected QNH 1013, but when we continued climb and contacted London Control they told us to climb 6000'ft?
Is this because of different sectors, different Trans alt?

You should set your altimeter to standard whenever you are cleared to a "flight level", and set your altimeter to the local pressure whenever cleared to an "altitude". You don't need to wait to the TA in the UK.

Also if you are unsure whether or not it is altitude or flight level then challenge the controller and see what they say.

I understand what you say, but the strange thing is that during climb you go from local qnh to qne and then back again to qnh during the same climb out.
You got my point?

Not so much different "sectors" but uncontrolled airspace versus controlled airspace and, unfortunately, still different transition altitudes - give it a few years and it should be rationalised. It's "standard setting" by the way, not QNE !

Oxford is outside CAS, unfortunately with NO radar service. I accept this situation is appalling and needs very urgently to be changed.
When you join CAS you will be separated from aircraft within CAS.
My guess would be that you were cleared to join CAS beneath a departure from GW, which would be at min stack level, either FL70 or 80, depending on the pressure, tracking towards CPT.
The next available level to join CAS beneath min stack level is altitude 6000 feet.

That's what I said when I worked there nearly 40 years ago!!! Brize did a bit of radar and there was a direct tie-line from Oxford APC to Brize RAD. Don't know what the situation is now.

And when these are built - Oxford (Kidlington) Airport EGTK/OXF - Major New Hangar Starting Construction at Oxford Airport and others - you can add another 30 jets to the mix!!

Lets just say APP is somewhat, ahem, challenging on occasions!! And as for the future -
