NATS College dress code

So what are we supposed to wear? I ask because I'll be moving from Spain and don't want to take unneeded clothes. Would a suit and tie be needed at all during the first few months of college?

Hello,

(Assuming a bloke).

Shirt (no tie), smart trousers and shoes.

Dress down Friday - anything you want within reason!

I remember back in the late 1960s that a fellow cadet on No 12 Course was asked not to sit on the grass by the College of ATC sign, playing a guitar during the lunchbreak! Not good for the image ...

I did apologise, but it didn't get me anywhere........! Was it Mr Bulstrode? Damned if I can remember.

I remember when it was hot we were allowed to take off our jackets.

How standards have changed.......whether to wear crocs or flip-flops.....

@Talkdownman
You're not wrong - in late 80's I was field member on a rating board @ Hurn in the middle of a heat wave & the Chairman asked me to put my jacket on as we had to present a uniform, smart appearance to the candidates ! The yoof of today - no idea
@ImnotanERIC
Naughty boy - a true statement but a bit like the Traffic Police Inspector who bemoans the fact that they caught 5 more drink drivers than last year without telling you the totals tested each year

Well, when I did my Initial at the College in 1971 I wore a T-shirt with Jimi Hendrix on it. When one of the Instructors asked me to change I asked him if he'd prefer the one with Zappa or Tura Satana*.......

This probably explains why my ATC career only lasted 35.5 years.....

* Younger readers should feel free to use Google here.......

Was it Mr Bulstrode?
Him of the wonky eye, He'd be giving somebody a rollicking and three people to either side would be crapping it.
I think he would have much prefered to see everybody still in uniform. Thankfully things have changed.

@ Gingerbread man - Hahahahah laugh my ass off ! How true that is! Although due to serious perspiration during summatives, would work better as a t-shirt!

Thankfully no ties involved! I think the smartness is turned up a notch for the oral boards for some reason, but you needn't worry about them for a couple of months

Very true, you can always tell an oral board day. Both from the smartness being cranked up a notch, and of course the "length of skirt" also gets a moved a few notches. I shall leave it to your collective imaginations to ponder which way that goes
