Shanwick Radio HF/Prestwick OCC

I was just wondering if the Shanwick oceanic controllers at Prestwick monitor the Shanwick (Ballygirren) radio HF frequencies, or have the capability to do so if needed?

The only freqs monitored at Prestwick are the VHF Clearance delivery frequencies 123.95 and 127.65. All HF comms exclusive to Ballyigreen.

I don't think so, but if you have an emergency, the radio operators can patch into Prestwick OAC or Gander OAC quite quickly, as I have found out on two events.

Hi B.. I thought Croughton was only for USAF?? Al Carter drove past there recently and said it's looking very smart with an F105 and F100 "on the gate". Wouldn't mind hooking my ham gear up to their aerials!!!

They were USAF, but we could phone them and they'd patch us into the required freq for emergency comms, quite nifty for '70s technology.
