NATS Payroll

Hi,

Maybe a strange question, but where is NATS payroll based? For instance; does Swanick have it's own payroll for their staff and Prestwick a separate payroll for theirs or is there one main payroll department? I am just wondering as I recently got in touch with HR requesting my PAYE reference (for family tax credits) and I was given a contact in Scotland. I am about to start college at Hurn soon and was just wondering if I am already put forward to be posted at Prestwick if I get through.

Hopefully someone would be able to shed some light on this for me.

It's all outsourced I believe to a company based in Edi who sort all that stuff out.

Most NATS finance and accounting sections including payroll are based in Edinburgh.

Yes, all of NATS payroll is based in Edinburgh - this has no basis in where your work or where you end up being posted to.

There's a statement that could be applied to quite a few depts in NATS.

EDS lost the contract back in 2003 and since then it's been done in-house by the team in Edinburgh.

As a newcomer to the company, what you may find odd in NATS is that some things you'd ask payroll about in most companies... well, in NATS you need to ask HR. HR decide who should be paid what, update any grade/salary info etc. Payroll take those instructions and make sure it works, tax is paid corectly and that we all get our money on pay day. (they'll also tell you your tax reference )

As for being disconnected from the rest of the company... It is a specialist financial service centre. If you call one of the payroll team you'll be talking to a payroll specialist who doesn't need to know all about ATC, they just need to know how to answer your daft tax code questions! (they are also some of the lowest paid people in the company, so go easy on em!)
