Macedonia Air Traffic Controllers prepare strike
A six hour strike by the air traffic control staff on Thursday will cause disruption at the two civil airports in Macedonia - in Skopje and in Ohrid.
There will be no taking offs and landings between 1100 and 1700 CEST (0900 and 1500 GMT) due to the strike.
The controllers are protesting against the intention of the Public Revenue Office to forcefully charge from the Civil Aviation Agency about €10 million that it collected as a VAT return over the last six years. They say that their future wages are not the only ones at stake.
“The authorities must understand that this money came from Eurocontrol, where the companies pay for flying over Macedonia. Because of this we might be banned from controlling our own skies,” Milorad Milanovic, the head of the technical staff union of the Aviation Agency told media.
But the country’s finance minister, Trajko Slaveski, yesterday argued that “there is no reason for air traffic controllers to go on strike” since the Public Revenue Office has agreed to wait for the appeal period before enforcing its resolution.

Dear Brother,
If your ages that you provide in your profile are correct than you should remember next cases:
-Ex YU early eighties, when civil ATCOs went on strike they introduced bunch of military ATCOs in ACCs to fulfill gap and prevent any further attempt.![Bad teeth](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/badteeth.gif)
-Belgrade' case '93 when DG realized that some 100 licensed ATCOs were not neccessary for normal operations.![Evil](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/evil.gif)
You may ad at that listing more "less succesfull cases"
and future is also uncertain so there will be always some kind of tension in our region, regarding T&C of course.
So my advice is stay out of any complication if possible,it will never turn on controller side. If you are not satisfied with T&C,I am sure you know procedure in such case: Passport in your hands, row in front of some emmbassy and bye bye....![Big Grin](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies2/eusa_clap.gif)
Having great simpaty towards Macedonian colleagues I wish you best luck and if can help I am here but I am not sure that you will achieve anything special.
No one in Europe will notice your strike, public will be your strongest oposition,T&C for management are at such level that they never believe in ATCOs "story" ,and there is no chances that ATCOs will stay compact.Management will always offer some promotions to some ATCOs,if they accept to brake strike and so on. Bussiness as ussual.
Anyhow I am living for the day to meet Macedonian colleagues at some trainning institution again, just to discuss who is able to drink more capucinos.![Evil](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/evil.gif)
Best regards and
HRISTOS VOSKRESE for those in Macedonia celebrating Easter day this weekend,
