Does your NATS HR contact not view that as confidential information?

2-3% is a proper payrise in the current economic climate.

2s is that how you refer to your relatives as "contacts" and do you feel that MP's confidentiality has been breached in the telegraph this week?

of course if i came on and said she was telling me that NATS were holding back on the pay negotiations and she knew exactly their limits that they will go to with the pay award, that wouldn't be seen as breaching confidentiality.

i have no cause to doubt her if you think otherwise feel free to explain.

What 2s calls his relatives is immaterial: his point is well made. Should there be any such agreement it would fall within a non-disclosure clause binding on both sides. If I were her, I certainly wouldn't be thanking you for making such easily traced statements on a public forum...unless...
As these are anonymous forums the origins of the contributions may be opposite to what may be apparent. In fact the press may use it, or the unscrupulous, or sciolists*, to elicit certain reactions.

she also said that they have offered him a job and a six figure sum to settle before the hearing.

I think that you have missed the point. If what you said is true - and alfaman makes a valid point - she has behaved most inappropriately and unprofessionally in passing confidential information to you. You, in turn, have not helped her by going public with it, whether or not it turns out to be true. Either way, I would have thought that she has laid herself open to disciplinary action. If I were in the employment of that company or in dispute with it and she released similar information, I would be inclined to nail her head to the nearest wall.

Maybe in your opinion it is, and if it was a 1 year deal I may just have been tempted to agree...but it isn't so i'd have to say it's an absolutely ridiculous deal and anyone that votes yes on the basis of "my next door neighbour's next door neighbour was laid off last week so i'd better vote yes in case the same thing happens to me and we should all be grateful we've got a job...blah blah blah" is clearly buying the propaganda from on high!! But anyway, i'm sure there's another thread about that somewhere!!

Back on topic however...personally, I couldn't care less about the age of an applicant. Because if they're good enough they'll validate and put a bum in a seat for a few years at least, and if they aren't up to the required standard then they should be "found out" at some point, and have their training stopped (either that or moved into middle management, where, lets face it, all the money is now anyway!!!!)

I would agree however that the older you get, the harder it is make the information stick, and, therefore, the harder it "may" be to get a validation out of them, but i'm not a bean counter so don't really care how much it costs to train an atco, or how many years service you're going to get out of them. I would be an advocate of "if you're good enough, you're young enough"!! And besides...if it costs too much they can always try taking the costs out of the pension fund, or our payrise(/freeze!!!)!!!!
